Rjj and toney may be the best fighters to fight at the weight, but Calzaghe is definitely the goat of the division

On this list Andre Ward is the greatest of all time. However 2 notable all time great are not on the list namely Roy Jones Junior and James “Lights out Toney”. The correct order is

    1. Roy Jones Jr
    2. James Toney
    3. Andre Ward
    4. Super Joe Calzaghe

You cannot rank Canelo until his career is over. We need to see how his fights at Super Middleweight with David Benaivides, Jermall Charlo and Erroll Spence Jr play out.

Based on resume I would say Calzaghe although Froch is a contender here as well. Ward would be up there too. All ahead of Canelo.

Canelo's ATG weight range is 154-160 imo. He muscled/Mexican beefed up to get big money fights above 160, but his prime run wasn't at 168.

No Harry Greb? Fought and defeated something like 11 HOFers, you can't do much better than that.

Yes, the SMW division didn't exist back then but he fought around 165 most of his career.

anyway, NO, Canelo is not a top ATG at 168.

Canelo could beat Tyson Fury and he still wouldn't be the best MW ever

    Now that's a statement

Right now, he isn’t the best at super middleweight by quite a big margin.

However his career isn’t finished yet, if his opposition that he has beat go on to accomplish something big (however unlikely) we might look back with a different perspective.

Roy Jones Jr made James Toney look pedestrian at SMW. Andre Ward beat all but one of the who’s who of SMW of his era. Carl Froch had an king run if nothing but elite opponents. Calzaghe and Ottke whom I’m not fans of because they didn’t fight had long reigns as the guy. Canelo has 5 wins at SMW Callum Smith, BJS, Yildirim, Plant and GGG. A far cry from wins over Toney, Froch Kessler, Abraham, Eubank Sr. Etc…

Cmon man. Its between Ward and Calzaghe. My pick is Ward based off more accomplishments. But Zaggy isnt far behind.

Calzaghe would be all kinds of wrong for canelo.

Not necessarily saying he is better but calzaghe speed, workrate and chin is everything u need to beat canelo at smw

Not in terms of fight record at 168 or H2H is Canelo ahead of Froch. He was running on fumes against a 40-year-old shot GGG. How'd do you think he would have coped with a man whose chin is almost up there with Golovkin's, never stopped throwing punches and had the stamina to keep throwing leather for 12 rounds, with very good power? Specifically, the Canelo who fought last night would have lost to Froch assuming fair judging...

10-2 Canelo. Not a competitive fight. At 168 hes yet to have been in a competitive fight.
