Every fight he's in he should see as a legit threat. Its basic professionalism.

Once more: I was talking about Froch's general qualities as a fighter, not how he would match-up with Toney.

I have not suggested Froch would beat him and I don't really see how you come to that conclusion. I didn't say it and I also told you once already that I wasn't talking about that. But maybe this time it will stick.

It will.Maybe it is just me, but it is then hard to grasp the point of your original post.

That Froch was a very good fighter that could win in a variety of ways. I don't see why it's that hard to grasp to be honest since it is what I wrote

He is more proven at SMW than Toney and that is what counts for me. I don't see the point in putting a lot of stock in fantasy h2h, since they are just that. And even less so "on each fighter's best night". The point is to perform every time, not to hit that high note once in a blue moon and then try to live on that (not saying that was the case with Toney). I rather take the guy that wins a series of 10 than the one that wins the ones when he's at his best but still loses the series.

I gotta say it is really hard to grasp the points of your posts. They seem to clearly imply certain things but then again you say they are not.Rather confusing and pointless in my view.

Ok how about a practical answer now. What losses did he have at middle/light heavyweight against fighters who he would have had any respect for, knowing this is James toney we are talking about?

    1. I think Froch has a better resume at SMW than Toney.
    2. I'm not sure that Toney could compile a better resume than Froch at SMW even if he stuck around longer. Maybe, but I'm not sure. Since even if Toney was more talented, Froch was the more dedicated one. And the weight issues meant that Toney perhaps would have moved from SMW even if he didn't lose to Jones.

That's what I'm saying with that post.

I'm not doing any fantasy h2h match-up in the post. If you believe Toney would win when both were at their best, that seems very reasonable to me but I don't care much either which way. It's just fantasy after all and I think that the average standard of a fighter's performance is more important than his single best standard.

No you didn't you have an idealistic answer. Toney did not respect boxers that didn't have skills. Everyone knew this

I don't know what point your attempting to make here.

    I'll reiterate my point again.

I favour Toney to win in a prime for prime basis.

But if Toney turns up out of shape for the fight with Froch, something he did on occasions in real life, then I would favour Froch over that version.

If you agree, great. If you don't, great.

Im asking a simple question - when did toney ever show up out of shape against a legitimate contender at either of the weights you threw out there. Simple answer - never. No reason to think he would not show up against froch, in fact you should expect the best toney to show up against that Calibre of fighter because that's what he always did

Yeah I answered that question, every time he showed up out of shape in real life.

Right ok. He performed poorly against 2 nobodies clearly unmotivated in about 60 fights at that point so let's just round up and say 50/50 who knows which version well get. I like your math

I'm pretty sure my response to this would be in a previous post I've made.
