Taylor was fighting in his own country. Calzaghe was fighting 2 people inside the ring( fraud Cortez) and three people outside the ring ( paid off Golden Boy judges) and still won.

    Manny Stewart had Calzaghe comfortably.

It's important to respect the fact that these guys fought in a different era and paved the way but.....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVwNVzqQeeg

come on. tell me he's the best british fighter ever

achievements aside, which were great in any era. h2h wise, he'd fair very poorly with the modern class

Get the___out of here with that venue ****. You know how many fights Pac have had outside of the Phillipine?

Home and abroad Froch is respected. Outside of Wales no one Knows nor cares about Carlzaghe. Deal with it.

Right. Froch doesn't even make the top 20.

By Journeymen. I like Lewis but he's not the best.

Its important to remember that just because most of Calzaghes fights were in the UK doesn't mean he was always at home, he fought English guys in England against very hostile crowds

2/3 years past prime but still game and dangerous Eubank

Prime Reid one fight removed from losing the WBC Belt who would go on to be robbed against Ottke

    Prime undefeated Lacy

Decent, limited but always awkward gatekeeper Bika

Prime Undefeated WBA (Super) and WBC Champ Kessler who would go on to win the WBA (Super) and the WBA (Regular) Belts as well as beat a Prime Carl Froch

The Ring Light Heavyweight Champion and P4P #4 Hopkins who would go on to beat Pascal for the Lineal, WBO, IBO and Ring Light Heavyweight Belts, Cloud for the IBF Belt and Shumenov for the WBA (Super) and IBA Belts.

    Shot Roy Jones Jr.

Undefeated but unproven on the world stage at the time Pascal who went on to defeat Chad Dawson for the Lineal, WBC and Ring Light Heavyweight titles.

Undefeated IBF Champion and frequently rated #1 or #2 Super Middleweight for four years Bute, but who should have lost to Andrade and who had not fought a single top fighter in the division.

Past-Prime Taylor two fights removed from losing his Middleweight titles to Pavlik and who never accomplished anything at Super Middleweight

Undefeated and unpoven Dirrell in a fight many believe he lost only yo get a home town decision.

Ancient Johnson who hadn't beaten a world level opponent since Tarver 7 years previously

Former IBF Middleweight champion Arbaham coming off a DQ loss to Dirrell, who has never beaten a top Super Middleweight and who went on to win the WBO belt twice inbetween struggling with and losing it to Steiglitz

    Unproven on world stage Groves.

Six years past prime Kessler who had not fought anyone above gatekeeper level since he beat Froch three year before.

Lost to prime elite level Ward.

Froch certainly deserves the credit for fighting all the big names of his era but those top names are not outstanding fighters. There were two who could be considered great fighters or elite level in his division and Froch lost to both of them

In comparison, Calzaghe's era lacked the big names - and the Super Middleweight division was rather weak for most of the early 2000's - but his signature wins were over higher quality opponents than Froch's.

Not white, not Anglo-Saxon, not British. Deal with it Libturd. A piece of paper doesn't define someone's identity.

I think I'd have to go out on a limb to consider Calzaghe a Brit considering he's half Italian.

Well. You tell that to Roy Jones and the nice time he had in South Korea. Venues count. PAC's fight were mostly against Mexican.

    PAC's fight against an American ( Bradley 1) was a HUGE robbery.:deal

Asked any fight fan ( English or not) who is better. 99 out of a 100 say Calzaghe, and the crazy one that picked Froch is that ******ed punk Lee Froch.

No they are not, and they never will be.

Why won't you liberals just admit that you are a dying breed. The recent electoral showings of UKIP, Front National, and Golden Dawn demonstrate this. Get of you self anointed high horse clown. If anyone is the best British fighter, it will be Calzaghe.

Do they define themselves as British in any way? Even if it is only a secondary nationality. If so then you have no argument.

No not even top 5 maybe top 10, Listen it was a great win tonight but Joe Calzaghe is still miles ahead of him, Froch has never even been the best SMW in the world let alone the greatest UK fighter ever he isn't even the best SMW in British history comparing him to Lewis, Calzaghe, Kid Lewis, Wilde, Buchanan is laughable.

Who cares if they define themselves as such? It doesn't change the fact that the men I mentioned in my list are NOT British, or European, nor will they ever be. No self righteous pretense could ever compensate for the fact that these men are not white Europeans.

I'm not saying this to diminish their achievements in the ring, because their records clearly speak for themselves, but at the end of the day, a passport, or citizenship doesn't truly define that persons lineage. Only blood, and ancestral background does.

If they have British citizenship then they are British.
