Was watching Boxnation last night and The Cat was on the phone. Needless to say the two big Steve's were raving about him. And quite right too. That got me thinking. Is Carl Thompson a HOF fighter? After Bunce's glowing review I had to check out Boxrec and youtube to see what all the fuss was about as I only seen him in about 3 fights beforehand. Good golly was I shocked! This boy was a terrier, a warrior. He knew how to give the fans their money worth. Looking at his resume it's even more impressive. Wins over Haye, Dunstan, Jonny Nelson, Duran, Eubank twice are certainly not to be sniffed at. Here's a link to his resume below. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=1259&cat=boxer I think if Barry McGuigan is a HOF then Thompson should be in as well.
Is this a joke post? He lost to Johnny Nelson. The Duran he beat was Massimiliano Duran, who lets face it, despite him winning a world title, is not the Duran you think he is. Terry Dunstan, good puncher but domestic level victory and Eubank had no business being at cruiserweight. His win over Haye came because Haye gassed out. Carl Thompson was decent but to be fair he'd only be an outside bet for a Greater Manchester Hall of Fame if there was one.
i dont think he should be in , but i also think if Barry McGuigan is in then there should be lots of others in, i think Barry is in for more the part he played in uniting Ireland and being a nice guy rather than is boxing record.. why is Jim Watt not in? he should be in without a doubt
Barry McGuigan dethroned one of the longest reigning champions of all time, what has thompson won? a shitty wbo belt.
A British version, yes Adrian is in there. But no, he is unlikely to ever be considered for the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
I'm a big fan of The Cat but he has no place in the HOF. Only his remarkable powers of recovery saved him from more defeats than he suffered...
