ATGs and HOF fighters had been doing catchweight fights for a long time now, so why are some posters claiming that catchweights are a digrace, bull**** and not a fair fight these days..

If you're a fighter one division under another great fighter and challenge him for the sake of finding your limitations and to give fans a historic fight, would you not demand for every advantages possible that benefits you even if it does very little effect to your opponent? i think i would, a lot of greats did.

If you're the bigger fighter, would you agree to fight at a catchweight that you think you will be drained and compromise your health just to have the biggest payday?. It would be stupid to do so. You can always say no and counter demand a weight which you'll feel comfortable with and still fight competitively..

we must remember that this is not some bum fighting another bum, these are the best fighters in their respective divisions fighting each other for legacy..

I'll admit to being biased and letting it slide when GREAT fighters are doing it for a fight that has some semblance of historical significance behind it.

That said, Paulie Malignaggi and Juan Diaz will be fighting at a catchweight of either 137 or 138.5 lbs. .5! That's ridiculous.

When fighters just start doing catchweight bouts for what appears to be the sake of a catch weight bout, we got problems.

if both fighters agree to it then theres no problem with it but
catchweights should never have a title on the line though

I dont like the fact that he is fighting JMM at a catchweight.

Clearly you just assumed I did because I am a fan.

    Way to go.

the fact that you're criticizing roach and pac like some filthy cheaters and the way you justify floyds doing clearly shows that you're just a plain hater and a floyd nuthugger..:thumbsup

its ok for 2 reasons... its gonna be meeting halfway between two fighters with different preferred weight class and as long as both fighters sign the contract without making it as an excuse in the first place for a possible loss.

    Im not calling them cheaters.

Justify what Floyd is doing? How did I justify it?

By saying its easier to move up to fight someone than it is to move down?

    That's a fact.

I dont want FLoyd-JMM happening at 143 and I dont want Cotto-Pac to happen at 147.

But I cant control it. It's going to happen.

what would you do if you can control it then..

would you like it to be jmm-pbf at what weight and pac-cotto at what weight?.

If it's ridiculous for either fighter then I'm sure they won't take it if they don't have to. A fighter won't ruin his career because of a catchweight, especially not Cotto who is young and has a lot of big fights to offer.

So you want Floyd against Marquez at a lower weight? Why? Who cares? Personal biases showing I think...
