WTF? Marquez fought Pacquiao at SFW 16 months ago. He fought Casamayor at lightweight around the same time Pacquiao fought Diaz at the same weight. Since then he has had the grand total of one more fight at lightweight.

Surely you're not actually trying to make the argument that Pacquiao is an established welterweight whereas Marquez is just a poor little lightweight?!:nut

No but this board seems to like to do that.

Marquez-Floyd weight difference is smaller than Cotto-Pac. But JMM is seen as a SFW instead of a LW for some reason.

We would never see dela Hoya's ass whooped by Pac without catchweight. If for that, I believe catchweight is cool.

For Mayweather to receive credit for beating JMM he has to meet him at 140 or lower.

He is considered cherry picking JMM for 143. even though I dont think so.

I think JMM offers a tough fight as a warm up to Floyd.

JMM is seen as very small compared to Floyd despite the fact that JMM is equal to Pac.

That fight wasn't at a catchweight. They agreed to fight at welterweight and De La Hoya simply shed a couple more pounds than he needed to.

why are you keep saying 145, i asked you a question what weight would you like jmm-pbf and you said 140 lbs and you would like pac-cotto at 147 lbs i just based my question on that weight scenario you posted, now you answer me like you have no memory of posting that scenario, you have some brain problem or what?.

Because thats where the fight is going to take place.

Even at 147 Cotto would still get more credit or are you too ****ing blind to understand that?

So called Catchweight fights are nothing new. In fact, the first international fight of importance was the bare knuckle bout between English champ Sayers and American champ Heenan with a 40 pound weight difference. The original Joe Walcott was a 5'3" welterweight who took on heavyweights and knocked out the highly respected 168 pound Joe Choynski who would knock out future heavyweight champion Jack Johnson a few years later. Fitzsimmons and Corbett weighed in the 160's and 170's respectivly while taking on full sized heavyweights like Jeffries. Mickey Walker was a booze bloated welterweight who caused havock among the heavyweights of the day. Henry Armstrong jumped from featherweight champion to welterweight champion and back to the lightweight championship all within a few months time. Billy Conn was barely more than a super middleweight when he took on heavyweight champion Joe Louis. Some of these fights were among the most famous and classic match ups in history. Weight can be a factor , but it's not the only factor. Some of the division jumping match ups of today are interesting as well. But there is nothing new under the sun as far as catchweight fights are concerned.

The fact that I had two different scenario's doesn't help the cause.. and you never picked what scenario you were talking about.

Cotto on this forum is almost always going to get more credit than Floyd against similar opponents despite what weight it takes place at and who fought who first.
