I wish he'd up his workrate a bit, when he's being offensive he's exciting and looks great.

His combinations and bodywork are anything but boring. And his defense is underappreciated.

That's it. The guy is not boring by any means. When you can throw 4 to 5 punch combinations that isn't boring. The problem I see with Chad is the guy has no killer instinct and just doesn't hit hard. I was hoping he would've at least knocked down milk dud head once yesterday.

Tarver was gunning for him and waiting for him to make ONE mistake. Dawson fought a smart fight but he stopped jabbing for some reason, that made the fight harder than it had to be. But I'm not in the ring so maybe he felt Tarver was timing his jabs. People over look the constant and consistent body work by Dawson. He mixes punches from body to head even better than Cotto. Doing that would derail a guys like Kessler who have pretty weak defense or even Calslappy who cant punch anyway so sapping some of his strength he would really be flailing like a *****. See the Baika fight for example. Baika had Calzaghe hunched over damn near ready to throw up from a few power body shots. In one of many of his long list of shitty performances against contender level opposition.

    Yes, he's boring.

Everyone here has already listed the reasons why he's boring even if they're too ****ing polite to tell the truth:

He fights in predictable spurts. Defensive shell, flurry, lather, rinse, repeat.
+ He doesn't have a lot of power.
+ He fights cautiously -- to win, not to KO
+ He always loses focus at some point.

Calzaghe is boring as ****..:rofl. When was his last exciting fight. He does not have ANY power he has **** poor punch technique that is laughable. The only he excitement is him getting dropped from his **** poor defense then coming back to slap harder in flurries. Never seen a fighter so dependent on offense for his defense at the high level.

The HBO crew knew his timing and were predicting his next move he did not risk anything no intensity and ate lots of hard jabs all night loosing the last two rounds to a 40 years Tarver. He better does'nt fight like that to Johnson or he will lose the fight again. I think Tarver is done and this guy failed to retire him.

He got the potential to be excitin, but he needs the right opponent. Glen was his funnest fight to watch imo.

Every boring fighter is exciting when they are hurt.

The question is does his style of fighting entertain you?

On one end he's no Marquez, Pac, Vazquez, etc.

On the other end he's more exciting than Hopkins, Wlad, Ruiz, etc

Its always good to see someone w/ his talent fight.

But he goes through lazy spurts and seems to lack a serious killer instinct.

I voted for boring but find him to be somewhere in the middle.

Hell no. If you find Dawson boring then I would suggest that you find a new sport.

I enjoy watching a well schooled fighter who punches in combination. There isnt a lot of guys like him out there anymore, and he was fighting Tarver who has an excellent chin and is hard to hit cleanly. I think if HBO puts him some better fights they could make him look more spectacular. Looks like they were giving him a entry test matching him against Tarver twice.
