Both were good fighters in their day.... I disagree, neither of them was a "Never was"

According to medias in Bulgaria, the fight is not happening due to injury from Oquendo`s side.

And now the interesting part,Pulev got call on Saturday to take the fight with Chagaev on 2 weeks notice....buuut his new coach Uli Wegner and Sauerland said no to that fight because Chagaev is southpaw and 2 weeks notice is not enough to prepare etc.

Pulev on his own said that 2 weeks are not enough and hes preparing for easier opponent on the postponed Sauerlend event mid October ~.May be there is still slim change for that fight to happen or it might be stunt from Chagaev`s team...who knows for sure.

Its quite amazing how Pulev is wasting away the prime of his career. Hasn't fought in a year, gets a call to fight an aging fake belt holder. Declines, prefers to fight some nobody on another Sauerland undercard.

    Good point,mate! Makes me think,too!

Pulev is for sure a mighty force at the big boys' league but he is far too inactive.Apart from Wlad he can beat anyone out there.I just dont get it why he or his promoter is wasting his precious time.:?

It'd be foolish to take the fight in two weeks notice. Past it or not, It's sill Chagaev. Another KO loss would end Pulev's career for good.

Oquendo is injured and Chagaev is searching for an opponent on 2 weeks notice or less now.

Ok so...latest news,Chagaev`s team cant find credible opponent for 17th of October and there will be no match at all.

    https://www.orte-im-norden.de/kiel/boxkampf-zwischen-oquendo-und-chagaev-fällt-aus/

    ^For whoever can speak german.

Translated with google translator [dont hate] :

The boxing match between WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev and Fres Oquendo, scheduled for 17 October in Keel falls off. Oquendo, against Chagaev won the heavyweight Crown in the summer of 2014, and had called for a rematch, suffers from a shoulder injury and can not compete in the arena of the Schleswig-Holstein state capital. Finds a new fight date, the Organizer announced to continue on Tuesday.

"We have checked through all the possibilities in recent days and also considering to switch to substitute opponents. Due to the short of time it turned out however as not feasible", Chagaev said. The audience deserved no compromise in this fight, but with perfectly prepared top boxers, Chagaev explained a championship fight. "We have decided so heavy of heart, to move the fight."

Oquendo is a never was. I understand its an insulting term but he never did make it big. A few robberies, a few fighters avoiding him and his generally boring style made that happen. Chagaev is a clear has been, and it pains me to say that as I have been watching him fight for many years. His last fight he was a walking corpse, there is nothing left in that man.
