I think Henessey has done a good enough job getting it on 5 it really depends if they decide to hype it like they should do. They need to get adverts and cross promotion on the news and talk shows that they have otherwise it wont do as well as it could do.

Does anyone think that 5 actually have a long term interest in boxing, or are they simply using this as an opportunity to hype the **** out of Khan vs Judah? (what with PrimeTime and 5 being closely linked - same owner is it?)

No-one even watches channel 5 though. They could advertise nothing else and I still wouldn't be aware they're showing it.

It's a good fight to start of with on channel 5 Fury vs Chisora two young unbeaten british heavyweights battling it out for the British and commonwealth title.

Channel 5 need to promote the hell out of this fight there is a good build story which They could film and show leading up to the fight like when HBO do with their fights this could create more interest but it all depend on channel 5 budget for this fight.

having the right commentry and presenting team is also very important we can assume the fight going to be a good interesting fight but if the presenters and the commentry are not up to scratch and clueless come fight night it could make or break the fight night event

Anyway i think it's brilliant the fact that boxing is on terrestrial TV again and hope it's a big success

Given the fight is weeks away and either fighter could in all probability pull out with an injury or whatever reason, I doubt you'll see a great deal until fight week.

Aside from that, ratings are not always the problem with boxing. It's the misery, hassle, uncertainty and all the ****s involved in showing the event that make it not worth doing anything long term.

Would be great if some promoters who don't have big deals with Sky started having shows pop up on Ch 5.

Imagine Spencer Fearon's show from last sat with Choi being live on terrestrial TV, would've been ****ing quality!?

    :deal

They need to advertise it on ITV/Channel 4 as well to get people interested.

It makes a big difference, for one thing terrestrial is much more visible, even if someones got the complete sky package the terrestrial channels come up first, and the papers and tv guides focus on them. Even being on freeview makes a difference, check the ratings thread, the ITV4 boxing shows were doing much better numbers than the Sky Sports ones.

More money than with no TV at all, which is the alternative. But at the moment Hennessy only has Fury so I don't think it'll become a regular thing.

tbh, i doubt putting this fight on channel five will do anything for khan-judah sales either. maybe it will get them a couple of thou extra buys

thats assuming they even advertise the primetime show on channel 5 in the build up / during the event

Im not sure channel 5 is big enough to be able to show the awesomeness of tyson Fury, i worry it may somehow blow up in an over load of awesomeness.

Channel 5 is good for showing Jason and the Argonaughts every day over and over again and nothing else.
