Is cheater Luis Ortiz holding onto his paper interim belt to avoid Anthony Joshua?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Good Boy Killa, May 26, 2016.

  1. I've seen interviews where convicted cheat Ortiz harps on about how he wants to fight Joshua.

Joshua is the IBF champion. IBF rules state that you must fight someone in the top 15 or a fellow champion. Secondary titles and interim titles (which Ortiz holds do not count). And by holding that belt, Ortiz excludes himself from being ranked in the top 15. Therefore Joshua cannot fight him.

So if Ortiz wants to fight Joshua, then why doesn't he drop his paper interim title and attempt to become a IBF mandatory? Anyone with knowledge of the sanctioning bodies know the WBA won't even force Ruslan Chagev- let alone Tyson Fury fight him. However, the IBF will make Joshua.

So why doesn't Ortiz put his money where is mouth is? It seems to be a Cuban thing. Erislandy Lara says he wants to fight Golovkin, but has never made an approach or even moved up to middleweight and seems happy to be chased round the ring by some jaborni named Vanes instead. Same with Rigondeaux wants to fight Frampton or Quigg but doesn't even bother getting a UK VISA to fight a British gatekeeper, does he expect Quigg too remind him to bring clean underwear?. Are there any Cubans on this site who can explain this behavior?

Ortiz wet toilet paper WBA belt puts in the mix for the actual title (held by Fury atm), not the paper belt that Joshua got handed to him on a silver platter.

Would be a good fight. I honestly think Jennings should wait 1 more fight before going after Ortiz though. Either way, if and when it happens, this will be an awesome fight.

    Ortiz destroyed Jennings?

  6. Kong is the one on steroids like the WWE wrestlers. And if he will murder Joshua, why not prove it rather than fighting Ustinov to keep his interim title?

  7. Wrong.

The WBA will never, ever, ever, ever force Chagev to fight Ortiz if he doesn't want, let alone Fury.

If he became IBF mandatory, Joshua faces him or vacates simple. Ortiz is holding that belt so he can stay off Joshua's radar.

  8. Do you not listen Joshua CANNOT go after Ortiz while he holds an interim belt. Ortiz is hiding behind it because he knows Joshua would straighten him out.

Avoid Joshua lmao the best thing Aj's team could do is keep him away from King Kong !delusional AJ fans

  10. Joshua can't fight Ortiz even if he wanted to because Ortiz is holding onto a paper interim title like a treasure chest in a hurricane so he's not on Joshua's list of available fights.

If he wants to fight AJ, why not ditch the belt and make his way up the IBF rankings where Joshua would be forced to fight him.

His claims that he wants to fight Joshua are about as honest as Erislandy 'no formal contact with GGG' Lara's claims he wants to fight Golovkin. They talk, then do everything they can not to get to the fight.

Ortiz is actually waiting for the " Big Chicken " Wilder to accept a fight with him. They are both available at the moment, so why is Wilder looking for an opponent in the local morgue, instead of calling Ortiz?

    Spot on :good

  13. Wilder can't fight him either. Wilder has to fight someone in the top 15 or a fellow champion and secondary and interims don't count. And by holding the paper interim he's excluded himself from being ranked with the WBC

Do you honestly think Eddie Hearn puts his prize ticket in with the most riskiest fighter in the division, I think if Ortiz was the mandatory they vacate the belt, the reward for fighting Ortiz is lower than taking on GGG or kovalev in there respective division

Once he beats Ustinov, wilder will have to eventually take on Browne/chagaev and the winner fights Ortiz according to the wbc recent tournaments or am I confusing that with the wba one?
