    :deal

I wish some of you American lads would visit the "British" forum once in a while and put those deluded Khan fans right!! They are ADAMANT that Khan is huge in the states and a significant ppv draw!! As such, "Doesn't have to give Brook the fight" (their explanation for Khan turning down the opportunity to fight Brook for a world title, choosing to fight Algieri instead).

its totally unfair on Algeiri to say Frankie Gavin is better who is still basically a domestic fighter

Prescott is a thunderous puncher and Algieri clearly is not (which is why Team Khan picked Chris).

It seems there is only two words to describe boxers these days.

    Elite or bums.

    Nothing in between.

    Sad really. :verysad

Very very true. I also hate how many on here abuse journeymen which are vital in boxing

    That is a reasonable point.

That said, they will both be fringe contenders/gatekeepers at WW so I consider them to be on a par with each other. And I do feel that Algieri's style would undoubtedly bring out the best in Gavin and I would pick Frankie by UD.

It's not that I am suggesting that Chris is a poor fighter. On the contrary!! I just consider Gavin (a former WW Commonwealth Champion, which is clearly above domestic level) who's only loss was a SD deafeat to Bundu, to be much better than some believe him to be.

    Well said!!

I HATE the term "bum" being applied to any boxer! They have (usually) trained hard to climb into a public arena and fight another fit, trained fighter who they know is hell bent on hurting them...they have earned respect, not ridicule!!

I find it especially grating that most of the disparaging remarks come from those who have not a clue as to what it takes to be a professional boxer (and who would not dream of climbing into a ring and fighting).

Gavin didnt win the European title, I actually dont rate Gavin at all but its fair enough to think he has the ability but he hasnt got any world/eurpoean level wins.

He's a good fighter. He's not an elite fighter nor is he a bum either. A bum would've fallen before Provodnikov and gave you guys another "Highlight KO reel" to admire, GGG style.

I don't think it's fair to categorize him as being elite or a bum. That's too extreme.

He's a young pro fighter. How many pro fights does he even have under his belt, 20 or 21? There's no shame in getting beat up by pacman, he's an ATG and had way too much ring experience, speed and power for ALgieri to handle.

I dont think this is a good fight for Khan, nor should a win against CHris put AMir in the driver's seat for a Mayweather showdown.

It's not fair he can call out the top WW's when he's fighting 140 lb fighters. If he wants a shot at the big boys of the WW division, do it the right way. Fight Brook, Thurman or Porter. A win over any of those guys easily trumps a win over Algieri.
