Areola is 6'4", Williams 6'3". Both are usually above 240lbs. Both look like sponges willing to fight back.

Arreola does seem to have more of an offensive agenda, but I've not seen many of Willaims' early fights.

What do you think? Any similarities?

I think Vitali will win his fight with Arreola in around the same sort of fashion he did Arreola.

Williams is 6'1. I think Arreola is a better fighter. He may hurt Klitschko early, but I think he's going down.

Too many questions to be answered as yet. Williams has shown a bravery and willingness to take punishment that's far above the average fighter; Arreola has come back from a kd well, but it's a very small sample size. The other big question is if Arreola just takes his payday, then calls it quits. Another of Williams' key traits has been his longevity.

Arreola is a good candidate to plod forward and get hit, but it's yet to be seen how well he does it. I think the most likely scenarios are that he's a more consistent "power plodder" that Williams, spending far more time in the top-10 OR he quits within about his next 6 fights. I don't expect a 14 year career of major punishment absorption at the gatekeeper level out of him. He doesn't seem to have the drive/dedication for that.

There's another thread going around where I stated I thought this would resemble Vitali's fight with Williams, and be stopped somewhere after 9 rounds. I must point out that I was right, but I want to add to that.

I would like to say I was impressed by Arreola in his fight with Vitali. While he was thoroughly outclassed, Arreola showed he is not just a sponge. Arreola's will visibly made Klitschko work much harder than Williams ever did.

Arreola is constantly thinking offense, but his lack of speed doesn't help him. Arreola holds his guard high, makes an attempt to defend, but realizes his lack of speed and patiently pursues his desired punching range before throwing. Why flail away at a distance you know you are unable to land from?

The biggest problem Arreola had, aside from Klitschko's physicality, was his inability to cut off the ring. Arreola often followed Klitschko around in a predictable pattern, and may little attempt to angle his opponent off. This is really the only thing Arreola could have done to make a difference. Klitschko was a step ahead at all times, and this is the only thing Arreola could do to attempt to take that step away. I'm not saying this guarantees victory by any means, but it would be the first step in making it possible.

Klitschko made Arreola look ill prepared, but this was not just due to inexperience. I'm criticizing Arreola's ability to cut off the ring, but how many times has this 6' 4" fighter been in that position? Arreola had problems slipping the jab. How many times do most 6'4" fighters face jabs from quality 6'7" opponents.

I posed the question of whether or not Arreola was the next Danny Williams. I think that Arreola has the determination to achieve more than Williams. The future will tell whether he is able to improve his technique enough.

Williams is so game it's unbelievable. He arguably fought a much better Vitali than Arreola did (hence why he got destroyed) Arreola is probably of a higher class, Williams was Euro level at best.

Arreola is nothing special, but he has willpower and a chin........ Arreola still took a wicked ass beating..... How much will Arreola bring back to the ring when he returns??

Neither do I. Vitali is no where near what he was, you could just tell that the snap in his punches wasn't there. Arreola is durable but not THAT durable.

This makes the win even more impressive imo. He won this fight PURELY on ring generalship and smarts, pretty hard to do in the HW division.
