Surprised to hear you say that:shock: Since you are one of the more knowledgeable ones on ESB.

You mean top 20 in the UK right?

IMO he probably doesnt even crack the top 200.

People forget that a shot Eubank gave Calzaghe his hardest fight ever. Thats from Calzaghes own mouth.

I wouldn't say he is...... Boxing has been about too long, and there has probably been more than 300 + great top class tough fighters to have fought ....

When i say great top class fighters, i mean the standards of like Muhammud Ali, Pernell Whitiker, Sugar Ray Leonard, etc......

    Truly blessed fighters...

I don't think Eubank is among them boys

I think Carter has a better shout then most of those guys...better then Bennie and Rodrigo I reckon.

But I wouldnt have him top 100 either...probably (just), in that outside 150 range where its becomes virtually impossible to distinguish fighters.

He is one of my favorite lightweights to watch...I think people unfairly critique him on his inconsistency, not understanding he was a mob affiliated fighter that was likely instructed to give a poor showing in a lot of those bouts. When he was given free reign in his title fights he was quite brutally successful at times..A dominant win over a faded (and likely very weight effected ) but still capable Ike Williams is still pretty impressive.

    Tyson isn't Top 50, and Eubank isn't Top 100.

Eubank had some tough fights against mediocre competition. Style wise this is not a good fight for Eubank. He looked good against good fighters like Benn in the first fight and Watson but those guys were a way different stlyle than Ward.

Ward would not have his hands full against guys like Ray Close and Don Schommner.

You cant compare Wards resume to Eubanks but in a HTH id take Ward.

Probably not a top 100 ATG, but he should be a top 100 hall of famer, in my opinion. He had skill and charisma. He probably wasn't as big in America as he was in the UK, but in the UK everytime he fought, everyone wanted to watch Eubank fight.

thise "tough fights" were tougher than they should have been because eubank made them that way, not the opposition. those fights came after he put watson in a coma, and eubank was a completely different fighter after that, he rarely went in to try and finish the fight early (not because he couldn't) and prefered to coast to a points win. you say against fighters like benn and watson, but benn was a big punching brawler and watson a good boxer with a great defence, that shows he can deal with completely different fighters. ward certainly wouldn't have the power to hurt eubank all he could do is possibly outwork him, but he was quick himself and would stop him before points came into the equation.
