Is Chris Eubank the lowest ranked divisional ATG ever?

I've never boxed professionally, you're right there. I did go to a boxing gym for a couple of years and done many rounds of sparring, but then I got injured and took up BJJ instead.

I'm a bigger fan of Eubank than you are. For instance you pick Barkley to beat Eubank and I find that mental.

However it intrigues me that he is an anomalous case of a guy who's considered a divisional great despite never being in the top 2 of his division.

Until you've taken a beating like the one Eubank did that night, been persecuted by the media and public going on, and get up in front of 22,000 hate filled fans near the end to deliver a picture perfect punch to save your life pretty much then you have no place to disregard in your keyboard world.

I was there at Earls Court when Eubank was beaten up by fans on his way back to the changing rooms out of the ring, headlocks and knees and elbow smashes - so cowardly.

I was also there in the 80s when I was taken advantage of by promoters, just like everyone else was in boxing, until Eubank came along and altered the way that fighter and promoter do business.

And I was there as a Watson fan.

Since Holmes was on his way out and not even ranked by The Ring at that time, it doesn't really make Eubank's resume more impressive.

Lol what is all of this dramatic nonsense.

Eubank was a SMW. In the division he existed in there was also Cordoba, Nunn, Toney and Jones.

They fought in the same division as Eubank and were more highly regarded.

Not directed at me, but I suggest you calm down. Luf have only posed an interesting question, not some troll thread to take down Eubank.

One hasn't to agree, but I see nothing disrespectful here.

Who cares who's ranked by a magazine, his previous fight he was winning until staying down from a body shot, after staying in Pensacola with Roy Sr until the day before to continue sparring his son - a big mistake. He was sparring with Toney for the Eubank fight and Toney sparring with Holmes for the Barkley fight, and Holmes said after that Eubank was on that level and Toney said after that his sparring sessions with Holmes were harder than the Barkley fight

We get it, you don't like Chris Eubank. I think we've established that. Stop trolling, you've made your opinions clear.

Not that your opinion is worth anything of course. The opinion of Eubank's peers I'll go with, the actual real boxers, not the keyboard world.

Holmes felt Eubank-Toney would be an 'interesting' fight, but that Toney hit him harder in sparring. He thought Eubank would beat Nunn, being younger, fresher and craftier, and praised Eubank for fighting him which Nunn never had

Yes he was but don't forget that Eubank still had plenty in the tank when he lost to Joe and had him out on his feet for a split second near the final bell.

When two fighters hold the exact same title for the same number of fights, I don't know how you could say one is above the other.... Unless one fought more dangerous prime fighters or more often (Eubank on both fronts!), Calzaghe had a whole spectrum surrounding him and that was Chris Eubank. He kind of broke free at the end did Calzaghe, but was clearly there for the taking against Kessler and Hopkins being so weak at the weight and older/faded, a young dangerous fighter like a 92/94 Tim Littles or something would've taken him brutally
