Is Chris Eubank the lowest ranked divisional ATG ever?

The only problem here is you are working from assumption. Without seeing the fights we don't truly know if they were gifts or not. Especially when ringside reports show such variety.

With Eubank we know for a fact he didn't want to fight Nunn, Toney or Jones. He tells us himself.

    Yeah, I know you're not a fan. :)

LaMotta might be in my lower top 20, but that might just because I can't come to think of 20 I'd rank higher. A rematch with Cerdan would have clarified things. As it is I can't take that at face value, and it's hard to know just how much Williams had left. Those and the last gasp win over Dautheille are the only wins he has over top MWs (considering Robinson was a WW when he beat him), I think.

What's weird is spending your life on an internet message board typing nonsense lists (and abbreviations you've made up) and believing subjective is objective (ummm).

What's weird about having being on a website that mirrors something you're interested in?

Many people make ATG lists because they like to discuss boxing.

    Geeky, yes.

    Nerdy, of course.

    Niche, absolutely.

But weird, no there's much weirder interests.

I know that, but I think I remember reading somewhere Jones had turned down a unification fight with Benn.

Im just saying, Benn atleast has an argument you could make. Eubank never did.

They were all world champion belt holders and importantly Eubank and Benn were the 2 big draws in the division.

What you don't seem to understand is, boxing is a business, it isn't who's the **** of the school. The reason these fights didn't happen was the lack of incentivisation. If they had the PPV of today, the fights probably happen. If Eubank can make 100m fighting Nunn or Toney, he takes it. If Jones Jr can make for 100m fighting Dariusz he takes it. That's why you got no trans continental unifications. There wasn't the incentive.

Mayweather-Hatton and Calzaghe-Hopkins wouldn't have happened in the 1990s. Did you know Hatton turned down the Mayweather fight 5 times before he eventually signed for it? He eventually signed for it because it was many many times more than what he usually made. He kept all the UK PPV money too. If Eubank could make that type of money fighting Nunn in 1994 ofcourse he takes. Instead he fights someone who would go onto beat Nunn for the LHW WBC title.

Of course its about money, it's prize fighting.

This is exactly why Burley could never get a title shot himself. It's why Moore had to take on of the lowest purses in boxing history I'm his first title fight.

But I don't follow boxing to hope that fighter A gets the best contract signed. I follow boxing to hope fighter A faces fighter B.

I'm not a fan of the individuals, I'm a fan of the sport. I want the best to fight the best, I don't care what they get paid for doing so. They have managers to worry about that side of things.

Eubank was quite clear that it wasn't about money with Toney and Jones. There's a really good roundtable with him, Jones, Calzaghe and Collins where he says it was about "not getting killed", and Roy reiterates that he saw Eubank as the biggest threat to him.

It's quality, actually. Collins gets so provoked by Eubank (who accuses him of ducking Calzaghe) that he walks off toward the end. Collins for his part accuses Roy of ducking him. They agree to face off (this was in 2013, I think), but nothing evidently came of that.

Not according to professional boxing judges and the referee (who rightly deducted a point and probably should've deducted two).
