thats a lot of defenses of one shitty belt with no unification.... he should get in the hall of fame based on length of time as champion and somehow not fighting another guy with a belt. he feasted on more mediocre competition than any recent champion

John, Calderon, and Wonjongkam all get in the HOF. Some of the finest FW and under fighters of our era.
Has a much better claim than a lot of higher profile names. I think it really depends on the voters though, and also how he finishes off his career. Regardless of whether he deserved the Marquez decision, he deserves credit for having a close fight with a first ballot HOF and one of the best boxers of the era.
For me No but i have higher standards than most, i think the HOF should be reserved for the best of the best the elite fighters of their era.
Fair enough. I'd prefer to see a "beyond reasonable doubt" approach, where a fighter would need either unanimous or the vast majority of votes to get in. Unfortuntely, for commercial reasons there has to be headline inductions every year, which obviously dilues the significance.
He didn't deserve the win against the only single elite fighter he ever beat or faced. He's a title hoarder. Good fighter for sure. Very good. But he's beat like four guys who have ever held a tirtle.
