I'm curious how AJ would/will handle Fury trying to maul him like he did Wilder. From memory Joshua's legs look pretty strong, as does his upper body of course.

Well if you look at bears and wild boars they are very good at absorbing hits because they not only have robust skeletons and stocky muscles, the extra layer of fat is like a shock absorber and makes it harder for other animals to get at their vitals.

The key here is you have to actually have functional strength and muscle under the fat for this sort of strategy to work. If miller or fury were weak physically all that blubber would just make them easy targets.

Is it a case of power and strength trumping speed in the division nowadays? A speedster can soon be slowed down by grappling a big behemoth.

Wilder has no base. He has no legs. It doesn't seem to prevent him from throwing the big right hand. But his legs were tasked with carrying a 230 pound, 6'7" frame with the legs of a bantamweight. It doesn't make any sense for his legs to be like that.

    Plus carrying Fury's 270 lbs.

It is a bit strange that his legs are so much less developed than his upper body. Wlad had pretty spindly legs as well for his size, didn't he?

Just had a quick peak at AJ-Wlad and it's striking how thin Wlad's thighs look compared to AJ's, despite them being practically the same size otherwise.

And it's even more striking if you compare AJ in Ruiz 2 against Wilder in Fury 2. Despite not much separating them in weight (6 lbs I believe), Wilder's legs are just so much thinner.

Andy Ruiz’s trainer says no way Jose. Pity he couldn’t convinced Ruiz before the Joshua rematch.
