Personally, nothing has changed, Roy would still walk away with it easily IMO. But I'm curious what some of the MMA posters in this forum think?
Ah yes. Roy has had 57 pro fights not to mention hundreds of amateur fights all of this at a high level. Anderson Silva has 2 fights one he got KOed and the other he looked like ****. Does this really need a thread ?
Tito Trinidad would destroy Silva in a boxing match. Roy, even at his advanced age and being mentally and physically shot would still dominate him
If Silva could land a flush punch the fight would be over. Anything is possible when you are dealing with a fighter that has a Chin as bad as Roy's.
He's been stopped twice in his whole career. And just went 12 with Calzaghe who can at least hit a bit.
Anderson Silva has 2 fights dumbass yet he can KO Roy Jones ? What makes him better then Hanshaw,Calzaghe,Trinidad ? Nothing thats it he isnt even close to being close to being close to those guys leagues. I love Anderson Silva as a MMA fighter but Roy Jones aint Rich Franklin or Dan Henderson or James Irvin lets get that straight right now.
RJJ would **** Anderson Silva in a boxing match. And this is coming from a hardcore mma fan. People need to realise that both sports are extremely...different. Asking "if" RJJ would still be able to destroy silva in a boxing match just because he got schooled by calzaghe. 1 Anderson ain't Calzaghe 2 Anderson is where he's at not because of his boxing. 3 Anderson keeps winning only because he "combines" styles. 4 He uses wrestling , muaythai , jiujitsu. 5 substract these things and he would half the fighter he is today. RJJ would **** anderson silva in boxing. And while i'm at it..i'd also like to add that it would be a terrible career move for anderson to quit mma for boxing. Because he'd get seriously embarrassed & would have a major reality check. MMA demands a lot of dedication. But so does boxing. And you don't enter a ring without years and years of experience...Boxing has one dimensional rules for sure. But if you don't excel at that one dimension (sweet science)...you are ****ed. And even if you're not , don't ever hope to get ranked anywhere near the top 50 or 100. Take fedor for example...absolute legend but this guy is what he is because of sambo , judo , wrestling... Same goes for Penn , Faber , Kid , GSP..etc..etc.. all these fighters are constantly combining different disciplines.
Yes, of course. However, Silva would **** Jones in a stand up battle if kicks, knees, and elbows were allowed.
Silva does not look good in a boxing ring. His distance is geared more towards kickboxing than actual boxing. He wouldn't do well against Roy Jones - at all.
I agree, the more interesting question is who would win an overall standup fight, Muay Thai rules basically. Even K1 rules with no real clinching.
