Cotto has simply stepped up the comp. Margo, Mosley, and Clottey are all very good fighters and all gave Cotto very tough fights. Before that he didn't face anyone on that level. The closest one was Zab who also gave Cotto a good, tough fight.

Cotto was not ruined by the Margo fight. Throw him in with a guy like Quintana today and he would probably do alot better than the first time.

Cotto does not look as good as he used to be, but his last fight was the first fight since Margarito fight.

Then perhaps he is damaged goods. Yes, I was thinking of Margarito/Mosely fight in Jan.

Cotto is what i always expected him to be, a great fighter with a huge heart. He is not floyd or pac, he is a durable good fighter. I would say by the end of his career he will probobly have a simalar legacy as hatton, great fighter but not amazing. And thats not a **** on cotto, hatton is a great fighter, so is cotto, but pac and mayweather are on a diff level. Lets face it,

how will his legacy be similar to hatton's? they're leagues apart, legacy wise in my opinion. Hatton's top wins came against an end of his rope Tszyu, a shot Castillo and featherfisted Malignaggi

Cotto's came against Sugar Shane, Zab Judah and Clottey, and the rest of Cotto's resume far surpasses Hatton's.

    how?

hatton won the lineal championship against a decorated champion (over the hill or not).

Can you say the same for cotto?

no I can't, but that doesn't excuse the fact that cotto's resume far surpasses hatton's and cotto's win over mosley is far greater of a feat than Hatton's win over tszyu. also, cotto's win over zab is greater than any other win on hatton's resume.

cotto's looked better against better competition and is therefore a better fighter simply put

You really rate cotto's win vs zab over hattons win vs tszyu. I'm sorry, either you werent watching boxing at the time those fight's were happening, or you are just a hater. No knowledgable boxing fan would even argue that point. Lets face it, tszyu was rated number 3 p4p coming into the hatton fighter. Zab was just beatn by baldomir, and mayweather coming into the cotto fight. You CANNOT ****ing compare that.... I am not one to throw insults around, but i seriously question your boxing knowledge or you objectivity :-(

Im sorry you baffled me so much with your statment i have to post again....

Really a win vs judah at that point (a good fighter who defend a IBF strap before getting KTFO by tszyu, then later moved up to welter and won against spinks, then got his ass kicked by a B level fighter Baldo, then mayweather) Lets face it, by the time cotto got him, judah was way more shot then tszyu was when hatton got him(btw tszyu ktfo judah in 2 rounds, you probobly dont know that)..... Hatton may have gotten a past his prime tszyu, but that tszyu was coming off a good performance and was rated number 3 p4p at that time. ARE YOU REALLY ****ING TELLING ME COTTOS WIN OVER ZAB (LUCKY TO BE IN THE TOP 30 p4p at the TIME) IS BETTER THEN HATTONS WIN OVER TSZYU (WHO WAS P4p 3 AT THE TIME AND KTFO ZAB BEFORE???))

either you are puerto rican, or just a ****ign hater.... Or maybe you just started to follow boxing. Really, Cotto has NEVER gotten a win thats as good as hatton vs tszyu. I love cotto, but lets be real here guys :rofl

I never got this. Maybe Cotto was rusty skill-wise (which could easily be put down to the terrible training camp he had), but this idea of "mental scars" is a load of BULL****. The guy endured a nasty gash over his eye for the majority of the fight, absorbed some serious bombs from a tough, tough cookie of an opponent and went on to squeeze out a victory. What more d'you ****ing want??!
