He really doesn't have anything to prove. He's faced everyone like DLH did and he didn't win them all. However, he did fight the best throughout his career and a lot has to be said about Cotto actually challenging himself consistently all this time.

He's never lost without being competitive. Even in the PAC loss, he still had his moments. He's a hall of fame fighter based on his resume with or without a win over Nelo. But if he does win the impact on his legacy will go through the roof.

On paper Canelo should win...he's younger, bigger, stronger....fresher. Cotto is supposed to lose but I have Miguel winning. I do believe that it will be touch and go in the first 3 rounds but the experience and craftiness of Miguel neutralizes Nelo from getting into his rhythm by the middle rounds.

I see a different fight than most....but I think many are sleeping on just how good Cotto really is. He's got enough pop in his punches to keep Nelo honest and enough ring savvy to walk him into traps if Alvarez becomes frustrated. I'm looking forward to this fight more than any other this year or next.

We'll definitely get to see the Corley, Judah, Torres induced Cotto Chicken Dance in full effect more than a few times in this match.

    And Cotto knows it.

There is no reasonable argument you can make that Geale is not the best fighter on GGGs resume.

Cotto is in his 4th division asking for a cw, your boy is trying to get one in his 2nd division.

Lemieux isn't even as good as Geale, dude won a vacant title vs a guy who has never been or beaten a Champ before.

The fact is in 2 fight's Cotto has better MW wins than GGG, and should he beat Canelo it will really be undeniable.

Cotto is a World Champion known for beating Champions, GGG is known for beating guys who lost to World class fighters and Champions.

You are talking about how things look on paper. Even prime Geale would likely lose to Murray or Lemieux; Geale who faced Golovkin didn't believe in his ability to win, and Geale who faced Cotto was dehydrated and completely demoralized.

Cotto defeated two champions in the last 6 years: crippled Martinez and Foreman who was not a beter champion than Lemieux.

Best resume as a fighter in the past 15 years whether you like him or hate him. Were they cripple or did Cotto sent shockwaves to their knees? Funny thing is, no one here gave Cotto a chance against Martinez. Just like no one is giving him a chance against Canelo. Hope he prove us wrong again.

This is it. In the next 2 weeks Cotto's career will effectively come to an end for all intents or purposes. So "nothing left to prove" makes sense as a kind of good-bye.

One of these 3 things will likely happen soon for Cotto:

    - He gets beat by Canelo
    - He beats Canelo and then ducks GGG again and loses the belt & legitimacy by ducking
    - He beats Canelo, takes a GGG fight, and gets annihilated by GGG

This is the last hurrah for Cotto, this upcoming fight. It's all downhill after that and the "downhill" may start against Canelo.

Cotto knows he can't beat GGG. He's not stupid.

GGG "retired" Froch. And he may soon retire Cotto. Or at least retire Cotto from any boxing relevance after the Canelo fight, if Cotto ducks GGG and drops the belt.

    Great alanysis. I salute you:thumbsup
Best thing that could happen would be Canelo batters him but gets robbed like Margaritwo and Cotto faces Golovkin afterwards.
The outcome of this fight should be clear.
Cotto gets ground to pink fairy dust.
This farce has been going on for too long

For boxing, I agree, the best outcome of Canelo-Cotto is a big Canelo win.

Unfortunately, Canelo can't box to save his life. That's why Floyd chose him as an opponent.

Cotto can beat Canelo. For boxing's sake, I hope Canelo wins.

No. The guy who while conceding to all concessions beat prime Manny 4 times and fought Undisclosed Weightweather. Those 5 fights alone give him a resume vastly superior to anyone in the past 20 years

Marquez had two shots at prime Pacquiao and never beat him. Morales actually did. So what you're saying is Marquez couldn't beat a Morales leftover until he climbed 10 weight classes and was 20 years into his career?

Neither Lemieux or Murray has ever beaten a world class fighter in their career, just based off how each has faired vs a higher level Geale would be favored over both.

As far as Foreman compared to Lemieux, Foreman actually beat a Champ for his title and has wins over World Champions in his career. Lemieux won a vacant title vs a guy who's never been or beaten a world champion, and has never beaten a world Champ himself.

Only GGG fans would argue beating Rated World Champions who've beaten World Champions isn't better than beating guys who are only known for losing to World Champions.

This post is kind of Funny because I don't want to say nothing :patsch how anyone are going to say that this is Cotto biggest fight, I understand that NOW is the biggest fight he can have NOW. Other thing is that some people put GGG in every post that named Cotto lets be real.
Cotto says that he don't have anything to prove and is true we already fight the best the boxing world has for him in he's carrer, the true is that he have a lot more Wins against the best and have CHAMPIONSHIPS In 4 divisions and believed or not for everyone he have he's own legacy because of that he said that.
