whats the deal with him, he KOs an inconsistant Zab Judah a gets a razor sharp points win against an aged mosely and every one seems to hail him as the next p4p great, cottos a decent fighter but i honestly feel that if he was old enough and arrived at the 140/47 scene back in the late 90s earls 00s he would have gotten eaten up by a prime tito, hoya, mosely, ike, zab,Tszyu and forrest i'll give him the benifit of the doubt against Mayogra, any of the above contenders would drop him inside the distance.

obviously but when people say his career will eclipse Titos it ticks me off, people forget how dangerous and competitive 147 was back in the day

It's not half bad at the moment either

He's got a long way to go, but the fights are there for him

Cotto is underrated. Before everyone of his fights people talk about his weakness and he always proves them wrong. Critics always gotta talk. If he cleans out WW he will eclipse Tito.

What do you mean bu overrated? OVerrated by fans on a messagew board? But boxing analysts? Overrated by Ring Mag?

Doesn't matter if he might lose to those guys in their primes, because that's not the era we're in today.

mayweather is the only contender at 47 thats the fight that will propel him to greatness beating guys like williams magerito, cintron wont do nothing to his legacy, all 3 fighters have limitations when compared to other greats at 147

Absolutely untrue. Beating Williams and Margarito alone will build on his legacy since both are top WW's today. Legacies aren't made comparing them to past greats.

Bad post. Cotto has proved that he certainly an elite level fighter, with not only his opposition but the way he has defeated them. If you think he is over rated, watch his fights and then use your own analytical ability, not just looking at boxrec. Anyone with two eyes can tell he is the real deal.

i'm not sold on williams for a guy his size he doesnt punch hard, cintron can be broken if you put enough pressure on him, magerito can be outworked.

Cotto isn't overrated. He's too multi dimensional to be overrated. Depends how highly a certain individual thinks he's rated by others. I don't think he's quite a Roberto Duran, and probably never will reach those heights.

Well, you don't have to be sold on him. Who cares if a guy his size doesn't punch hard. Boxing is not only about the hardest punchers.

True, Margarito can be out worked. Problem is, who else out there will outwork him?

Not sure about overrated, it's hard to tell at this point. However I do feel he is being wrongly sold as an all action brute who comes forward all the time without taking a backwards step. He is in fact alot smarter than that and fought on the back foot against Mosley in the last few rounds with some effect.

I'm still not completely sold on him though. I thought Mosley won the fight against him and Mayweather beats him easily if they fight, in my opinion. Cotto is a jack of all trades and master of none.
