Hes good but not as good as some people make out. They like his excitement and consequently forget his weak defense, only decent handspeed, plodding footwork, predictable offense.

Plus he lost to Ancient Mosley :D

personally i dont think he is overated he is getting the right level of exposure...BUT

somepeople are making out that this guy is the only guy to beat floyd :huh i mean he is good but he has very little defence high hands maybe but not alot against a full fledged attack.

great body puncher, good left hook, alrigth chin, not bad handspeed but not really his forte, alright technique...not really talented he throws very sloppy shots but that left hook is a thing of beuty, rubbish jab, combo's are not really precise or accurate.

but his greatest asset is his toughness and stamina these two things are all thats needed to make a great fighter.

also pretty good against stand up boxers.

i just feel he isnt as more elite than any other welter champs to be honest.

if he was that much of a quality fighter like so many people argue, he wouldv beat mosely in convincing fashion, the fight was too close and could have been scored either way

If you knew anything about scoring boxing, it couldn't have been scored either way. Just like Oscar v Floyd couldn't have been scored either way. Mosley at welterweight is very much a top level fighter, who had strung together an impressive string of victories over genuine contenders and champs. Cotto showed an just how well rounded he is, by adapting and not only beating Mosely from the inside, but outboxing him as well. Just because Cotto was counter punching at times does not mean he lost those rounds. Aggression does not score points, you have to be actually landing punches.

    No, he's not

And this next statement will cause others to say "you overrate him," but I firmly believe he would beat Floyd Mayweather if they fought.

yeah also that he is pretty easily outboxed and outhustled if you have the speed and balls. this is why i think williams has such a good chance against him

and his chin gets tagged in almost every fight i have seen.

and whats your thought on him fighting alphonso gomez:think to be honest gomez cam eup the tough way fighting super tough competition mayb ehe was on the contender but he was one of the deserving few who had a chance.

His punches are extremely tight and well thrown WTF are you talking about? Rubbish jab.... LMAO. He was outjabbing Mosley despite giving away 6 inches of reach. Have you even watched him fight, or are you just writing anything that comes to your head.

    :good

His punches are great - excellent technique, power, and he gets his body into every shot. He's got a hell of a jab as well.

Judah and Mosley are considered p4p the fastest in boxing. How did they go outboxing him? Does Mosley not have "balls"?

If/When Cotto v WIlliams comes off, avatar bet for 3 months that Cotto wins. It will be comprehensive also, because stylistically Cotto is all wrong for Williams.

Cotto overrated I thought this conversation would end once Cotto stepped up the comp and he has done that, very special fighter one of the best welters out there. The skills, heart and depth are there. The only thing remaining is the the display against the rest of the best.

yes, i think he is overated a little.. but that being said... i mean, thats the nature of our sport... some will overate and some will underate, we have to get used to that.

and besides.... i think hes earned the right to be overated.... hes fought some tough fights, and been in some good skillfull battles, and is undefeated.... hes earned the right to be overated imo

I don't agree with the people that say he is being ducked by Mayweather. For all we know, the one that might be ducking Mayweather is Cotto.

I like Cotto's style and he is good. I think he is a P4P fighter.

However, he needs to win a Lineal Title. I also believe he would be defeated easily by Mayweather.
