Is Cotto shot or not?

Cotto isn't a shot fighter, nor is he at his best. His timing and reflexes are still there but he's less able to take shots and a little more defensive in his style of fighting. Fight should have been made after Floyd fought Hatton, but as it stands, it's still one of Floyd's toughest fights in years in my opinion.

The larger the sample size, the larger the validity. I wasn't convinced after Foreman, started to be impressed after Mayorga (I actually thought the crazy ******* might pull it out) and even moreso after Margarito. Cotto started to wear down but he was never in any danger of losing the fight so I'm not with you on the bike thing.

Dipshits can sit around here all day and argue nonsense like this. The whole point of the thread is that "Pac beat the better Cotto, Floyd fans said it was because he was shot, now what bitches?!"

Honestly, what more can be said? That Marquez was fat, bloated and had no reason to be fighting Floyd at WW? Who said that? What happened last November? What happened to Manny's cut? What happened to this temporary stadium? Why was Cotto a terrible matchup for Floyd (cough jab cough) and why is Floyd ducking him yet as soon as he leaves Top Rank the fight is made in 5 minutes? Why are Pacquiao fans trying to discredit Cotto when he has three wins in a row and yet Mosley last May was a legitimate challange?

 

Puga et al need to worry about Bradley because he's going to stop this smoke and mirrors show dead in its tracks.

Oh I agree. The Foreman victory was over valued by many - probably in hopes to getting Cotto back to 140 killer he was. But even after Mayorga and Margo II- I am still not convinced he is as good. It is a legit contender for PBF or anyone at 147 and above. This Cotto is much better than any version of Ortiz (mental dwarf in utero).



But that is NOT the point. The point is he WAS CALLED SHOT by many. And you CANNOT go "UNSHOT" after 3 fights. In fact, I can't remember a fighter being UNSHOT ever after x amount of fights.

That is the point. You can't go unshot. And to make it worse, not only certain individuals called him shot, then unshot and now better than ever. Really?

It sounds too convenient and is silly.

Do I think he is shot? No.
Is he as good as 140 version? No.
Better than 147? No. Or at least his last 3 154 fights does not convincingly says so. His performance with Foreman was above average at best. Mayorga was a fine victory. Good win with Margo II, but he seemed to lose control in the last 1.5 rounds. Either way, pre 154 Cotto was better.

Cotto isn't shot, He's just not on the level to compite against fighters like Mayweather, Pacquiao and even Marquez, That's all.

Everyone knows a shot fighter when they see one. Cotto is not close to being shot.

i don't think you can say damaged goods, not quite prime though, in my opinion pac would have beaten cotto convincingly at 147 might have been a bit harder but the fact it was at 145 ruins it a bit for me, nevertheless a very good win the pac, explosive performance, credit where credit is due although i was not impressed with cotto in that fight terrible organisation (no real trainer) leading to a **** **** all game plan.

 

Cotto has taken alot of shots, but really he isn't shot. He looked pretty good against margarito. He wasn't shot when he fought Pac either.

The way Pac destroyed Cotto was impressive his best win at ww imo.

He might be a little bit past prime, but i think for this fight against floyd it won't matter. Floyd is to good for him regardless.
