From looking at threads on here about Floyd Mayweather is the only fight he can earn respect for gainst Cotto ? :

If he beats Pacman - Pacman was too small
If he beats Mosely - Mosely was too old past his best

No, there's excuses for Cotto as well I'm sure. But even if Shane is 38 I believe people will still give Mayweather credit for the win.

    Nope, Why?

People have already been saying that Cotto has been in too many wars.

I posted a few days ago the excuses I have heard for every fighter if Floyd beat them.

I think the only way he gets any credit would be to fight the Pavlik - Williams winner at 160.

Even then, the reaction would be like the Baldmoir/Oscar fights. He wasnt exciting enough and ran all night. He has a boring style, etc.

I dnt think Cotto was in too many wars...The prob is too many people are looking at Cotto's performance against Clottey, yet no1 can give me a name of sum1 that looked good against the tough fighter from Accra, Ghana

If he takes Shane next, fresh (as possible, now) off Margarito performance, there's still a good deal of credit there. And if Pac beats Cotto, what can you say? Pac is the more valuable scalp, even at 147 (or whatever weight they agree to not neccessarily make).

cotto is damaged goods, after his fights with
judah and then shane and then margo and then clottey and then pacman, im sure the naysayers will say that cotto was passed his prime and has been in to many wars.

pacman will be to small and if he beat mosley, then he waited to long to fight him.forgot about 2 different occasions where mayweather wanted to fight mosley, if and when he finally does it will be that mosley is over the hill.

On the real IF Mayweather ever fights Cotto and beats him I will give him all the credit in the world that he deserves...I do not think that PBF will win if they do have to fight tho, lets see what happens on Nov 14 first.

    Pretty exciting stuff :D

If he beats Cotto -Cotto is damage goods if he beats Williams he was drained to death making the WW limit. There are not alot of people that likes Floyd and for some real reasons. If he wants to cement his legacy he must beat two of these fighters you mantioned. But if he fights a couple of them he is going to lose eventualy :).
