One of Cotto's wars but my favorite is Torres vs Cotto, that was a war.

Excellent fight, but if we're talking 10-15 years it falls short. As another poster said, there's been a lot of really good fights in that time.

    Castillo-Corrales would be my pick.

Cotto vs. Margarito I is very similar to Calderon vs. Segura I and Rios vs. Acosta, both also were very good fights.

EDIT: The more I think about it, Calderon vs. Segura is eerily similar to Cotto vs. Margarito.

I'm shocked that some of you are selecting non championship fights. The stakes at this fight were unbelivable. ODLH was supposedly choosing the winner (only if it was cotto) and there was also mayweather looming potentially taking the winner of cotto vs odlh.

Margarito going on to win this fight is pretty much the reason manny pacquiao got thrust into the lime light raelistically.... some of you are picking good fights but none contained EVERY single element that boxing fans loved like this fight did...

with the exception of a few I saw listed.

    examples:
Calderon vs. Segura I and Rios vs. Acosta

these fights are great but they didn't have the implications that cotto vs marg did.... neither of these fighters would eventually go on to fight on a major PPV the way cotto & margarito did. They were just fights for the hard core fans. Cotto & Marg had the perfect balance of hard core fan appeal and casual fan appeal...

I remember watching it live. One of the best no doubt. Probably top 10 in the time I've been watch boxing 8 years or so.

When I mentioned those fights I wasn't referring to magnitude, I was referring only to the in ring drama of the respective fights.

Dude, Calderon vs. Segura I was the #1 and #2 fighters at 108 fighting. It had HUGE implications. Calderon is a future HOF, one of the GOAT below Flyweight, and his zero was on the line and taken from one of the harder punchers in all of boxing. In a fight more exciting than Cotto/Margarito I.

Just because people choose not to follow lower divisions doesn't mean they have any fewer implications in the grand scheme of things.

Calderon is more relevant to boxing history than Cotto is, if people watched him fight or not.

the fact of the matter is 108 is one of the more irrelevant divisions in the sport..... normal men can't be that small so the competition there is never that good and the appeal for the division is equally as lack luster.....

The drama made me think it was greater than the Cotto-Margo 1..
