Is Crawford really in the same class as Floyd? Or is he more Cotto, Mcgrit, Meldrick, and Benitez

Let's be honest here, Crawford is one of the best of his era. But is it fair to compare him to a talent like FLoyd? Or is he more Buddy McGrit, Miguel Cotto, Marquez, Meldrick Taylor, and Benitez?

The five men you mention are not really on the same level as each other. I think it's fair to say, given his level of opposition that Crawford could be at the level of Cotto, Marquez and Benitez. That trio, as well as Bud, are noticeably better than McGirt or Taylor.

My son told me the sentences above seem to disparage Buddy and Meldrick. That was not my intention. Both of those guys were quality, world class fighters. I just think there is a bit of a gap between those two and the other fighters in the original post.

You think? Let's not forget that McGrit was extremely competitive against a prime Pernell (some think he won the firwt fight). And Meldrick is usually favoured over Marquez and Cotto historically.

No. Crawford is a weight grifter with a padded resume.

I agree, Floyd never beat dudes up the way Crawford has.

Better than Benitez who schooled Duran and beat Cervantes at age 17 ? Aswell as going 15 rounds with prime versions of Leonard ? Hearns ?

    Debatable.

Yes Crawford has a cleaner record but he hasn't fought anywhere close to the opposition that Benitez was fighting.

yes he did back in the Pretty Boy days before the hand issues showed up. His destruction of Corrales looks just like the Crawford destruction of Spence.

I’m not even convinced Crawford is at Cottos level. It’s too hard to say based on his resume.

In terms of resume, Crawford is lower than every person you mentioned.

H2H it's hard to say. He's more of a weight bully than all those guys, so has a good chance at beating everyone but Floyd. Skill wise Crawford is not as good as Marquez or Benitez, probably better than Taylor, Cotto, McGirt.

Until he proves it, he's the level below Floyd, etc. He's well beaten most of the guys he's faced, but there isn't a depth of high-quality fighters on his list of names. He's an excellent offensive fighter who drains down to feast on smaller guys.

I think Canelo is well on the slide but for the first time in the ring Bud is going to have less physical advantages.

    Crawford is GOAT material.

But Floyd evolved within and was trained by a family with a massive boxing background. Father time and circumstances will not allow Crawford the opportunity to position himself at that level. 37 years old already. I think he beats this past-prime Canelo, though.
