He was good enough to have the commentators talking about his effective jabs and if Crawford could keep up until the first knockdown.
Where to begin ? Weight bully ? There's no such thing. Weight bully falls into the same category as the YETI, the Sasquatch, the invisible man, etc. If a fighter can make weight according to the rules, then any fight he fights at the weight class is fair, at least by weight. None of the second paragraph is relevant. So what if he outweighed Madrimov. (BTW, I could score that fight either way...very close) Crawford made weight at weigh-in. Crawford's talent and achievements are obvious. (BTW, if you check, I predicted (wrongly) that Spence would beat Crawford).
Fury already had 3 brutal fights with Wilder. Oh I forgot, you guys were saying Wilder was such garbage while in his prime, so I guess Fury beating an old Wladimir should be the highlight of his career. AJ’s stock dropped permanently after Ruiz beat the sense out of him. Spence was undefeated and despite his accident showed that he still was a live dog and top tier athlete when he fought Ugas. And Crawford ran through that obstacle like nothing. His performances have been far more impressive and dominate than Usyk’s.
He looked fine til he started getting that ass whooped, thats why its relevant. He also stated himself he felt how he felt during that fight before and could normally get himself going - good enough to beat everyone else in the division….. Just not Crawford. It’s not like AJ vs DuBois who was clearly in a bad way from the opening bell and the first time he got hit.
Correction, this is a forum full of haters. I fully expect to get my head chopped off when I give my 2 cents. lol. But it’s good to shake things up every now and then.
So Crawford has one great question mark win, Usyk has two. I think the rest of Usyk's body of work is also more impressive, but non-CW fans will probably not appreciate that. Still the actual achievement of what Usyk pulled off, which is unifying CW, moving up and then unifying HW in a giant era is WAY more impressive than what Crawford has done IMO.
Remember that Crawford was the first male fighter be unified in two weight classes. Usyk beat some studs at cruiser weight but people need to understand that boxing’s deepest talent pool has always been and will forever remain from 135 to 160. The competition is far more challenging for a talented midsized fighter than a heavy weight. Another note is although Usyk moved up in weight, he is hardly a small heavyweight. Compare him to others who moved up (ie Toney, Byrd and Jones) or comparable size heavies that were natural at the weight or make their legacies there. Is his accomplishments really THAT extraordinary? I personally believe that the era of the giant heavyweight is coming to an end.
