is cro cop a genuine all-time great?

    question about my favourite fighter, cro cop.

    will he/or is he now, considered an all-time great mma fighter?
    unfortunately i never got to see him when he was in his prime. yes i've seen highlights of some of his fights since i've gotten into mma, but its not quite the same as following a fighter in real time.

    i ask this only because his prime was in a different organization, and i've only seen him in the ufc where he isn't really into his fighting at all.
    was the standard of his opponents high when fighting in pride?
    at the time did the ufc have the better fighters?

    well I do think its clear he would beat tim sylvia and arlovski in his prime. Randy, Rodriguez, Mir I think he would beat as well.

    I would say he is the third best heavy in mma history. though not as secure in his ranking as fedor or nog.

    Yes he is, watching Mirko you knew something bad was going to happen and 9/10 he delivered. I dont think he'll remain in the top 3 ATG's at HW for too long but in his prime he was a match for anyone

    hes another one of these guys like ken shamrock and mark coleman that with the fullness of time will get rated lower and lower (unfairly i believe) but thats just the progression of the sport.

    He is one of those fighters who will be judged on his prime, not his overall record.

    Agreed. Pre-UFC was his prime, and he is in fact an ATG.

    Yes he accomplished a lot before he went to the ufc. The only thing is his ATG ranking will be lower since he did so bad in the ufc. Had he retired after pride fc went down the drained then he could have been top 3 ATG.

    He's solid at #3 all time. If he'd been able to duck Nog and Fedor he would probably be considered the best ever, as his resume is slightly better than theirs when you take away the head to head matches. Fortunately for us, we got to see them face each other.

    Yes, Fedor, Big Nog and Cro Cop were the three best HW's at that time.
