It seems nothing interesting ever happens in this division, no wonder nobody talks about it the few important matches of this year like Lebedev-Jones, Afolabi-Huck failed to meet expectations the top dogs Huck, Lebedev,Hernandez etc, these guys are average fighters at best skill wise, none of them is special and they do their best to avoid each other. Say what you want about HW, but at least you have one superior fighter trying to establish dominance over the others there So can we all agree cruiserweight is the worst division atm?
Lightweight had Figueroa-Arakawa this year, that epic fight alone saves it from being the worst division admitedly, I don't follow strawweight so idk about it
Actually Lebedev Jones was an awesome fight. Wlod Chakhiev was also excellent. Lots of good fights to be made there, but the top guys are often fighting live comp.
I never pay attention to whats going on at Cruiserweight. I wish someone would come up and change that.
Talent at CW is pretty bad at the moment (and has been for quite a while. Ever since Haye and Adamek left the division basically and Cunningham got old) but some fights are fun.
Agreed. It may have some decent fights, but nothing in this division excites me. It doesn't help that it's 200lbs too. So whenever, or if ever someone does well, they're expected to leap up to see how they do at HW. Can anyone fill me in on why this was budged from 190 to 200? This must have really shat on fighters who are too big for LHW and too small to compete with 200lbers.
Cruiserweight is better than HW. And probably SW, LW, and JBW. Huck, YPH, Diablo, Lebedev, and Guillermo are a solid enough top 5 along with interesting guys like Afolabi, Mchunu, Arslan, Chahkhiev, and Ross... Not so bad.
parity makes for an interesting division because there is no dominant champion the possibility for interesting fights are there. Cruiserweight has potential and can offer interesting fights at times. Notice nobody has called it junior heavyweight division in a long time? Denis Lebedev has a kind of fan-friendly style. Most of the fighters in the division have enough punching power to turn things around with one punch and many of them compare well to lower weight divisions in terms of speed and endurance, although a few of them are really lighter weight division guys who can't seem to get their weight down anymore. Adding Usyk and that talented Russian amateur ( I can't remember his name at the moment ) is going to make the division quite interesting.
Lw is really poor, especially for a traditional marquee weight. Burns, Vasquez, Demarco and Abril are the top guys there which doesnt say a whole lot for it.
Its up there, but that division almost always sucks. Lightweight is way, way more woeful compared to how great it usually is. Vasquez, Abril, Beltran, Burns are a sorry lot.
Prominent heavyweights, such as Haye and Adamek, made better fights at cruiserweight. See Adamek vrs. Cunnigham or Haye vrs. Fragomeni. The division is moribund in the USA, while stronger in Europe, where the average man is in the cruiserweight weight range. NBC should rectify the situation and sponsor some big fights at cruiserweight. A cruiserweight war is good TV.
[/COLOR] Beterbiev and Mekhontsev are both campaigning are light-heavyweight if one of them is the Russian your refering too
