Is Danny Garcia retired?

That's less than 11 months out of the ring. A bit too early to file a missing person's report.
Thinking about it, if he really had been out of the ring that long, I probably wouldn't miss him (or his dad).

 

I mean the average top fighter fights once every year and a half now so I guess we just wait

 

That’s normal for most PBC fighters.

Just like Mickey Garcia and Gary Russle Jr.

 

Last I heard, he was readying a move up to 154.

I'll tune in. I've always enjoyed watching Danny. A fine boxer, if a little too deliberate (which has only hurt him in a small few bouts).

 

I presume it was a miscalculation but I'd be more worried about Keith Thurman, 2 and a half years on the shelf and no sign of a next fight.

 

Close but he still have enough in him where he will fight anyone if the price is right. He is looking for cash out fights.

His career is coming to a close.

I think he's in a position with no real upside. He could wait on the current climate to change in the welterweight division or go up and fight lesser known opponents for a lesser paycheque than he'd get for a rematch against Spence, Porter and Thurman.

I think he probably should have left his dad and found a proper trainer years ago who'd improve some of his flaws and fine tune his abilities.

Thurman vs Garcia 2 would be watchable but Thurman probably won't want it.

I don't think Garcia was ever an elite boxer but he's got a really good resume and he seems he would fight anyone around his weightclass. His dad did him no favors but i think he helped build hype in some of his fights.

If he does stick around at 147 then i'd have liked to see him fight the new generation of the likes of Ennis and Ortiz Jr. I think it would be an interesting fight vs Ennis in particular and i would give him a shot at the upset if he hasn't significantly declined.

Danny Garcia is on the Keith Thurman plan now.

They won't be back in the ring until Jarron Ennis or another young gun needs a name opponent to get them on PBC FOX prime time.

At that point it's up to them if they want that final cash-out

PBC overpays fighters, that's why they don't want to fight often.
