Is Danny Jacobs a bigger threat to GGG than Lemieux was?

Lemieux has really fast hands for a banger, but Jacobs has the boxer/puncher style to keep Lemieux at bay while landing debilitating powershots from long range. But like Khan and Terrible Terry Norris, if an opponent with decent power gets within range, Jacobs will be in trouble. He showed recuperative power against a feather fluff like Mora, but a dangerous puncher with an iron chin like Lemieux can be behind on the scorecards and still stop Jacobs. I favor Jacobs over Lemieux, but barely.

I would say NO. Jacobs isn“t bigger threat to Golovkin than Lemieux. The obvious fact is, neither can outbox Golovkin, but Lemieux has the power to knock out and hurt anyone at 160, including Golovkin. Jacobs will try to box against Golovkin because he has no other options - it will lead to slow, but hurtful finish around 5th-7th rd.

Jacobs could fight like Vince Phillips did beating Tszyu.

Phillips didn't have a great chin. He didn't run. He took his time. He circled out of range. He tied up when he had to. He didn't allow himself to be cornered much. He was careful. But his power punches did damage. He countered well. Especially to the body.

I agree, Jacobs would have to fight a perfect fight. But most guys would to beat Golovkin. I'd give Jacobs the Tszyu-Phillips fight and tell him to do that. Don't worry about GGGs chin. Circle out of range. Throw a power jab. Don't waste too much energy. Dig body shots when you're in range. You've got 12 rounds. Stay busy. But take your time.

I like your "perfectly basic" description, though. Golovkin looks so good in there, but it's all very basic stuff. He's great at it. And his power is amazing. But you can counter "perfectly basic."

That's not factual, K2 want's the purse bid because they don't want the fight. Watch it go to purse bid, PBC win the purse and triple g suddenly doesn't want to fight anymore.

PBC is starving for a big fight, you think they'd let K2 win the purse?

Offensively, yes, IMO. I think Jacobs is a more skillful fighter with similar power, biggest difference is Lemeiux is tougher.

Phillips was even with KT at the time (87-85, 85-86, 85-85).

Hatton was ahead on all three cards against KT.

Jacobs has height and range, in addition to good power and solid skills. In terms of what he brings to the table, he presents the biggest challenge to GGG's undefeated run thus far. Doesn't mean he'd win, of course...Just that he brings more to the table than most of Golovkin's opponents.

If my dude Jacobs had a much better chin then i would say yes.

The thing is Triple G doesnt have a problem with boxers whatsoever . He is excellent at cutting the ring off and beating the hell out of them.

Lemuiex is still the harder fight in my eyes.

But lemme tell you i would love Jacobs to prove me wrong and make Triple G go life and death with him.

I love seeing how a fighter reacts to adversity. Its shows what they are truly made of.

I definitely agree Jacobs would have to give Ggg the Phillips-Tszyu treatment. You can't go for the the ko against the ko artist, going toe to toe, power punch per power punch is not the way to go as you leave yourself open, but a tko or stoppage by simply beating the puncher to the punch is usually the best way to beat a puncher. Jacobs is gonna have to hug/clinch Ggg so many times in that fight he'll have Ggg's scent on him for a week.

I'd have liked to have seen DL vs Jacobs. I think that could have made for an interesting back and forth fight. What's happened to Quillin btw? Anyone heard anything about him since he foolishly turned down the Korobov payday and got himself knocked out?

GGG respected Lemieux's power. I can't see him giving Danny's power that kind of respect. Anyway, what are we talking about. Danny is already throwing up roadblocks to avoid the fight.
