Ward signed a 3 fight deal with the final fight being Kovalev 12 months ago, the date may have been agreed in April but that is semantics

Fights don't get signed without a date.

He signed a 3 fight deal we the final fight being Kovalev? That sounds to me to be pretty easily set?

He had to fight Kovalev after his 2nd fight ffs stop being petty.

GGG vs Canelo could have done the same thing but Canelo already knew the date he wanted as it's a heritage date for his peoples

The deal was between HBO and Ward. Nothing about their fight was set until may stop being an idiot.

GGG and Canelo will do the same. Just not with a flat fee offer from 12 months before.

They signed contracts in April of 2016. Agreeing to fight means nothing unless contracts are signed.

It was a contract? He signed a 3 fight contract that Kovalev must have been involved with as he was the 3rd fight.

The date signing was just semantics

Ward signed the deal w/ HBO only with the condition that kovalev was on tap. Like I said, agreeing to fight means nothing unless contracts are signed. So, they did NOT sign a year in advance, as you stated. Not to mention, with Ward versus Kov, we have two guys who are more or less on equal position. Caneleo and 3G aren't, they have more dynamics to sort through, so it'll be more difficult to come to an agreement, WHEN actual contracts and negotiations are under way, and NOT in the form of some flat fee offer that most people saw as disingenuous.

Was it thought to be disingenuous because it was too good to be true?

Ward signed a contract for 3 fights the last being Kovalev and it's happening?

Why is GGG so difficult to deal with?

It was disingenuous because, as stated, no one sends an offer letter to fught a whole year away. Too much can happen in the meantime.

In regards to Ward and Kov, they only signed to fight at the end of April. Hence the somewhat pointless, easy fights each took in the interim.

3g's promoter is known to be rather easy to work with. That's been confirmed by several managers and promoters. How the f*ck is 3G being difficult, when it's Jacobs' promoter and manager who is trying to get a rule changed for him. Don't be dense...

If Danny thinks he can beat Golovkin, he should fight him for whatever money he can get. Then he'd be the big kahuna and could get the money he wants.

Seems like few in the sport think this way anymore, however. :frown:

It seems too many fighters enter negotiations with a loser mentality, always needing that extra money in the purse, due to the risk involved, and the possibility of losing. Shoot, that's a part of boxing.

I do feel Jacobs deserves more than what he got for the Quillen fight but other than that we've no idea how much he's asking for have we?
I suspect he's asking for at least 3.5 mill,he also maybe feels it's a fight worthy of pay per view and also as usual he's asking for danger money which is the one thing that really bugs me with all those would be GGG opponents, why is it the rules change for facing Golovkin, quite frankly I don't think they want to face him no matter the money as Chris Eubank jnr proved?

You are confused that isn't a loser mentality, it's an alpha mentality.

Do you think GGG has a loser mentality trying to get top dollar.

These guys are fighting for there families etc, a win in the boardroom can be as good as in the ring for these guys.
