is danny jacobs best shot at winning to use the salido/ward blueprints?

While I agree the best strategy to deploy against an EE fighter like Golovkin who really doesn't have a "Mexican" style is to use inside fighting which they cannot endure.
However, Jacobs lacks the mentality of an inside fighter and at this point I don't believe he can develop it. He does have a couple of advantages over Golovkin already in defence and he needs to focus on landing sharp and crisp hard shots while staying defensively tight.
He should come out firing from round 1and if he doesn't land anything then get his jab working.

He needs to mimic Brook rather than Ward.

 

His best chance to do what Lebedev did against Gassiev and that's box and move then mount your offense in spurts, put GGG on defensive, unload big shots and then back to boxing.

 

I get what you're saying, it's just very hard IMHO for a fighter to change styles significantly. Yes, working on a bit of inside fighting could be a very good idea, but I wouldn't advise Jacobs to actively try to take the fight inside. He's not good enough to go all out for it like Ward does. I'm sure he'll eventually get caught and KO'ed if he tries to go into the clinch in every exchange, because that's not something he's used to doing; Ward is far smarter at getting inside without getting caught, and I don't think that type of skill can be taught in 3-6 months.

That's why I think he'll be better off to stick to something close to what he knows best.

I think we'll see a far more cautious, jabbing Golovkin on March 18; but if not, Golovkin can be hit and Jacobs certainly has the speed and power to do damage with his shots, he just needs to avoid going to war as I don't think he has the chin to do so. If Golovkin is more cautious and comes out jabbing like against Lemiuex, then Jacobs need to keep beating GGG to the punch and frustrating him, taking him deep and out of his comfort zone.

 

Jacobs has a weak chin. Using the Salido and Ward blueprints would be suicide.

He should box Golovkin.

Danny Jacobs doesnt have a solid chin and mentally aint ready for a fighter with G's fear factor. If one puts any weight on what a fighter says before a bout, here are his own words " I'm scared to death, but who wouldn't be . I'm terrified but that helps me train even better. A scared fighter is a dangerous fighter" on the scene

Danny's game plan wont matter if he can't overcome his emotions.
If he fights nervously he'll drain himself of energy and will be bound to make mistakes.

Many ignore that Golovkin will also have a gameplan of his own.

GGG will break DJ down and stop him as soon as the opportunity arises.

Yes, dirty infighting is the probably the best way to beat Golovkin. His power peaks at mid to long range. Gotta smother that. I just don't think Jacobs is the guy.

 

Maybe he should use the Vince Phillips blueprint on how he beat Tszyu.

 

He should use the Froch, "beat-down a hype", Bute blue print.

 

Salido/Ward ?

Which set of tactics did you have in mind ?
