2 title defense shy of Louis' number of sucessful title defenses in any weight catagory dominated the LHW division in the 90's, he wasn't ever known in the US, though(probably because the Jones fight never happened) I'd say yes, not because Tiger's Polish, but because you don't have such long, dominant champions very often
He deserves to be in more than Johansson, McGuigan, Rosario, or Carbajal imo. He was an extremly dangerous fighter in his prime.
no for me giving credit to fighters who never even wanted to make their name in the states (and therefore never being in a position to negotiate their biggest and defining fights) is like crediting a great basketball player who refuses to play in the NBA
I wouldn't complain at all if he made it, and I've said no to most of these threads. Three very good wins, long title reign, about 10-0 against titlists. Didn't face everyone he should have, but didn't fight a lot of patsies either. Basically wiped out the best in Europe, plus a few other top guys, for half a decade, and the best boxer in his country's history. No worse off than someone like Khaosai Galaxy.
Indeed, and if not for people getting stripped, he would have held all four major belts simultaneously. Got screwed out of the Ring title since they were bankrupt and out of publication when he beat Hill, who had just beaten Maske in a 1-2 fight.
are you aware that is this NOT 1953 and madison square garden is not the centre of the world i guess your one of those people that thinks americans dont need to travel at all, even though when they do.... they often lose but that doesnt matter because only the garden matters
