I must say, i liked Lacys attitude better than Hayes! (the only reason i dont like Haye) But their fans is def. hyping them the same way!

HAYE beat the no:1 Marmeck + a able debuty in Macranelli.

Lacy beat Scott Pebmerton was lucky to get by Journeyman sheika.

Considering thats calzaghes signature win tells u everything.

Yes...i don't think much of David Haye just yet...just like I didn't think very highly of Jeff Lacy back then.

But, Hayes fans, just like Lacy's fans, are so sure of the eventual brutal KO.

It's crazy...Wlad is going to take Haye to school just as Calzaghe took Lacy to school.

So if Wlad loses, is he the new Mormeck? or Macrinelli? or is he still the new Ali (he lost eventually too)?

You think a fighter will lose so he's just like another fighter who lost. What a load of ****ing bollocks.

forget it...just grease this thread...no one seems to understand its original intent and I'm getting really tired of having to explain myself.

    It's the pre-fight reaction of the fans I'm comparing. Re-read post #1.

Granted, the first three sentences do indeed talk about comparing the hype campaigns around each fighter, though calling Jeff Lacy fans ignorant would by itself be a good way to derail your own thread.

What really derails it, though, is the entire 2nd half of the initial post! 3rd sentence dogs Haye and the 4th sentence compares a Wlad/Haye fight directly with the Cal/Lacy one. The thread was off-message before it even began.

Either your thread needed more clarity or you needed clarity on what reaction it would provoke.

While I agree with the OP saying that Haye has done nothing really at HW ... and he's hyped himself on the basis of CW achievements that likely won't translate into similar HW achievements, I'd tend to agree with the poster Whatarock when he says that Haye is the type of fighter who can beat almost anyone on any given day. He may well pull and upset against Wlad tho most likely he'll be fully KO'd. And if he wins he's quite likely to lose against a solid HW ... on any given day.

Personally - I'd love to see Haye/Povetkin ... that'd be an interesting fight and one that would set up any clash with Wlad all the more.

i think it was the title that derailed it...not so much the comments after.

upon reading the title, I can see how one would think I'm actually comparing the two fighters.

    Sorry, folks.

i agree, I would much rather see him get a quality win before jumping into the lion's den, so to speak.

it would definitely make it a bigger fight.

So what are you saying, Wlad will deserve respect for beating Haye even though Haye is a hype job (in your eyes).

You make the comparrison with Lacy when you could just as easily make it with Hatton fans pre-PBF fight, or any other fighter who is fancied by some to win beforehand. What marks out Lacy is that the hiding he took from Calzaghe was one his carreer never recovered from - it was a severe pasting. Mix that in with your steroids and Adamek quips and dismissal of winning the Cruiserweight titles and this thread has nothing to do with accurate comparrisons, just pure Haye bashing.

EDIT: I must have quoted the wrong post, I meant to quote two of link2296.

Actually - the trouble with Haye ATM is that it's all speculation. Simply put ... he has to NOW sign the fight with Wlad or quickly negotiate a fight in the near future with a top 10-ish HW.

The ball is in his court. People such as the OP who are calling him into question IMO have ever right to do so until Haye makes his statement at HW to prove otherwise. And that statement may not even be a win against Wlad, it could be a very good showing in a loss against him, or a marginal hard fought win over a top HW.

Really man, I don't care enough about Haye to bash him. It's a strange phenomenon...when you are trying to counter an argument against the hype of a fighter, you end up sounding like you can't stand the guy...or at least it's how its perceived.

    Sorry about that.

I don't understand all the fuss and controversy over Haye fighting the Klitschkos. It's a really simple scenario.

    All 3 are good heavyweights.

Haye and Wlad are fairly evenly matched - fight could go either way

Vitali is better than Haye - Vitali will win.

None of this changes the fact that they're probably the 3 best guys around at HW.
