I don't think Haye will be another Ali. Ali has been over-hyped to near mythical status. Ali is like what Bruce Lee is to kids in karate class. He's like Santa, Superman, or the Tooth Fairy. Imbued with mystical unmatchable powers beyond reason.Any flaw in Ali is automatically chalked up to his foe also being superhuman.
I don't think David Haye stands a chance.

Also, there is the fact that even without the hype, Ali was a very great fighter, who did have a division deep in talent to test himself against.

Hay will amount to nothing more than a mouth the way he's going, he HAS TO GET IN THE RING, even if it's against top 15 type fighters, he needs to fight, over and over. The whole Klitschko saga is doing him no help.

The majority of fans are not giving him a chance. I think he can beat Wlad. But, I would not be surprised if Wlad beats him. Wlad has got his style down to a science.

Ali's Iron Chin alone makes him greater than Glass Jawed David Haye who will be essentially a Herbie Hide clone at Heavyweight.

I gotta say, judging by the output of this thread Haye has a chance to do great things:shock:

Pre Liston, nobody thought Ali would be anything better then a contender. Ali had a glass chin, he was knocked down by Henry Cooper ffs sake!!

Most here want Haye to win, aren't giving a realistic shot, just like Ali wasnt really given a shot against Liston. So... the prefight thoughts between Ali - Liston and Haye - Wlad are similar and this thread is a success :hey

He won't be an Ali but there are similarities with the first Ali/Liston fight in how Haye is playing mental warfare with the sisters and how he will surprise many by stopping both!

Ali was never knocked around the ring like a ragdoll by a 168lbs fighter.

Uh... if you think he stops both Klitchkos with no doubt in your mind then you must think Haye can dominate todays HW division... in which case you must think Haye has a chance to be an ATG.... in which case you think he may end up being compared to the likes of ALi :hey

If it wasn't for smelling salts, we might be seeing threads today in the Classic Forum about "How good of a contender was Cassius Clay?"

Not with out any doubt. Wlad will be KO'd and I have a feeling Vitali is headed down hill but dominating the current HW division does not automatically make a fighter an ATG.
