With the kind of power Tua brings, there is always a chance for an upset. Problem is, for that to happen, the Klitchkos would have to make a few mistakes, leaving the opening for Tua to land flush and that is not happening in their last few fights. IMO, today, the chances for a Tua win are ridiculous small, but nobody knows what will happen a year from now, which is about the right time frame for the fight to take place considering Tua wins a couple of good fights next. Anyway, Tua should go for it, considering his current situation. The payday will be worth it. Before retiring, Ruiz, Meehan and Peter/Arreola are fights that Tua should really pursue. All of them would do fine financially and add to his legacy.
He doesnt really need Ruiz again, Train for 3 months fight for 19 seconds A fit focussed Tua could KO most fighters around today, that same sentence has been stated throughout his entire career. The only fighter i dont give him a chance of beating is Vitali. He would survive against and probably smile back at him like he did to Lewis but would be vastly outpointed.
He should beat a couple of tall, fringe contender punchers. Meehan would be an excellent start (though he is a legit contender, I don't think Tua might beat him pretty handily) and then move on to any 2-3 of the ususal suspects: Davarell Williamson, Lance Whitaker, Jameel McLine, Michael Grant, Dominick Guinn, even Audley Harrison.
There is interest in the HW scene...Vitali - Arreola generated a lot of interest. Chambers drew a lot of deserved attention with his win over Dimitrenko, which is a far better accomplishment than Tua's destruction of a clubfighter. Povetkin has the best resume of any HW not named Klitschko. Haye - Valuev will be interesting...the HW division doesn't need Tua. If he can win against a top 15 fighter, he will be interesting, not before.
It would be safe for Tua to fight 2 credible fights to get some rounds under him.....Kali Meehan would be good and then Samuel Peter or Chris Arreola. If Tua is in shape, I think he has a better then good chance of beating Wlad or Vitaly.
Well, how is a fighter interesting if he has far lesser recent accomplishments than several current contenders? Especially since he is a comeback fighter who had a good career but failed against Byrd who got beaten twice by Wlad and against Lennox who is the big, range - controling HW prototype like the Klit brothers?
"The only fighter i dont give him a chance of beating is Vitali. He would survive against and probably smile back at him like he did to Lewis but would be vastly outpointed." Tua was out of shape for the Lewis fight......Your telling me an in shape, busier, not just relying on the money left, but using his right hand sledgehammer version of Tua would get outpointed from Vitaly??? He has a lot better chance then that c'mon now!!! If Tua fought his fight and pushed the pace, throwing those bombs in both hands.....Id say he has a way better chance then most, but thats only if he's in great shape and motivated.
Smaller fighters trying to push Vitali....that's his bread and butter. Do you realize that Tua is four whole inches shorter than Hide, with shorter arms and slower feet? Hide couldn't use his supposed speed advantage to get to Vitali, now little Tua is going to do it? Tua would be the shortest opponent of Vitali's pro career and he is going to beat the HW who is hardest to hit and was never knocked down when bigger, faster men failed?
So because he hasnt had any recent good accomplishments that others have had the heavyweight scene doesnt need him. This is what i find interesting. To me David Tua amongst the heavyweights will always be interesting.
What memorable events have occured in the H/W ranks in the last 3 years anyway??? Atleast Tua caused a sensation momentarily.. All other memorable ocassions are via let downs and rip offs. Seeing Haye get ko'd will be fun... other than that, the international H/W scene is no more than a ****ed up circus with TV networks at the helm.
