Hopkins has said repeatedly that he isn't interested in the fight. Keep in mind also that his camp was interested in a bout versus Kessler, but Palle shot that one down. So who else is left to prove himself against? People have whined on this site about Diaconu, but he himself has accomplished nothing. A rematch against Johnson would be nice and a rematch against Tarver obviously is unnecessary, but Chad's only real option for moving forward is Calzaghe.
He's more proven/worthy (of a fight) then everyone on Calzaghes resume bar perhaps 43 Bernard. Having said that Bernard was coming off 2 recent defeats, and was 43 so there is a case to say it's a more live fight then that one too. Even some Calzaghe fans on here, at the time, were calling for Joe to fight a young live fighter rather then the relic Bernard was looking (a fight Joe went into red hot favourite to win at the bookies).
If he isn't proven, then who is outside of a few sure fire Hall of Famers? And i can't prove this but i know Hopkins doesn't want anything to do with this young lion.
He is not proven yet. He gutted-out a thin decision over a Johnson which to me is his best win. Tarver has not looked impressive in a long time so I don't see that as a big win as far as proving himself, just a big name. I don't know if he is polished enough yet for Calzaghe or Hopkins but he has to find out sooner or later. He has potential but we will see. A rematch with Johnson would prove his worth before stepping up to Hopkins, Calzaghe or even Kessler.
Oh OK. :good Hopkins is a stiff test for anyone in the division, and yes of course a win over Hopkins gives Dawson more credibility and certainly more money to bring to the table as well. However if Dawson really wants Calzaghe then signing to fight Hopkins first isn't a smart move, cause as he's proven in the past, Hopkins can derail all of that.
Yes! Hes proven to be a top 3 Lightheavyweight right now. More proven than Calzaghe was in his whole career before he fought No-hook Lacy
Adamek,Johnson,Tarver and even Harding are solid scalps. Holding 2 titles is more than enough to be considered proven. He is doing at a young age what Joe never did.
Adamek is Dawson's best win. Johnson would be second followed by Tarver. A Johnson rematch is out of the question for the time being. He's caught up in the WBC scramble with Diaconu.
His win over tarver and adamek impress me the most these wins plus the johnson "win" (i had johnson) show he has proven himself at the weight mixing in with the top fighters.
Can someone explain to me why Dawson is gonna rematch Tarver? Was there a rematch clause or something?
