They are throwing around huge dollars. Only been on the scene a couple of years Is that they are doing sustainable ?
I wouldn't think there US market is profitable yet but it doesn't need to be. Its a worldwide business and its all about growing subscribers and starting in new territories. They are not running out of money anytime soon. http://www.sportspromedia.com/news/...Feeds&utm_campaign=Latest+News&utm_medium=rss
With the crazy amounts they are paying some fighters and possibly not very good buys they are getting I wouldn’t think so at the moment. But also I don’t know a thing about their business and would think they know what they are doing
They are setting their stall out to speculate to accumulate, whether or not it will pay off remains to be seen. The concept is great however you'd image once they establish themselves the fee's will start to go up, extra fees for each sport etc.
Why would someone pay a monthly subscription to watch 3-4 boxing fights a year? Someone who really wants to watch a highly anticipated fight will pay $100 for it for a day. Also the amount of free online streaming websites and platforms, when you can watch a fight for free with the same quality as a PPV stream, why pay for it?
If they are making money then they need to hire a better commentator. Kenny and Mora are ok, but that other jackass always critisizing the fighters needs to go. Dude probably doesn't even know how to put on gloves, let alone get into a ring thinks he's high enough to critisize a real fighter? That fool needs to be bent over and have a pair of 12oz gloves stuffed up his back side.
I find it hard to believe they are not losing money on boxing. But people explained to me its not abouy making money right now for them, but about cornering the market, becoming a major global player, ect. 'Gotta pay to play.' Probably once they have become an established entity they will begin on working to really make a profit.
Dazn USA doesn’t make it on boxing. Just trying to buy a market share and get a foothold. They will have to get deals with some major sports leagues - NFL, MLB, NBA, hell even MLS or NASCAR - to make a dent or either kiss the American market goodbye. And when/if they get those sports, their boxing funding will be wasted money so they will pull an HBO. First they have to solve their technical and production issues. The streaming keeps screwing up from what people who have it continually post and their announcing/camera work isn’t prime time. They’d be better off spending millions on hiring the out of work HBO crew than wasting it on euro fighters who have no wide USA appeal.
Worldwide, according to a report — and the key there is that they have Premier League and several U.S. pro leagues in several international markets. Nothing but boxing and MMA here, and the majority of that is euro fighters. No way they have that many in the U.S.
