Is Degale another Audley in the making?

A few people think the Degale is the real deal and is on a learning curve. They tell you he is an Olympic gold medalist (so was audley) so he must have what it takes.

I look back and think about people like Howard Davis, Tyrell Biggs, A-Force, Terry Spinks etc etc who all won Olympic golds and did nothing similar in the pro ranks.

The likes of John Stacey, Gilberto Roman, Joan Guzman, Vic Darchinyan, McCallum and Cotto are a few fighters that spring to mind as having no Olympic gold but winning titles in the pro ranks.

It appears that Degale will stick with his current trainer which I feel will hold him back. He did nothing with DW and Degale will do likewise under his guidance. He still makes excuses after each fight and cannot get out of his slapping habbit. I know these are learning fights but the guy is just not improving at all. At least Audley won the WBF belt, I can't even see Degale getting one of those straps.

He has talked WAY too much and unfortunately his game is terrible. Much like Audley he doesn't engage much and hasn't taken to the pros very well. He obviously has the ability to do things but not replicate what he did at the ams.

He is on a bull**** learning curve at present. Gavin and Groves are on real learning curves.

I think he's decent but the 'gangsta' attitude needs to go, I hate all that pretensious bull****. No need to pretend to be something your not just because you win a gold, in fact thats probably the coolest time just to be yourself.

    JT,

Do you think he will drop his b/s attitude? I for one can't see him dropping that snoop dogg attitude. He really does think he is in Snoop's Dogpound. I think it will take a loss to give him that kick up the backside but then it will be too late in the day.

I suppose at the very least he has a few years more than Audley had to come to his senses. Audley was already knocking on a bit when he won his gold medal.

Yeah, he might have to take a loss. It helped and changed many before him - Haye, Khan etc

he has not shown much so far give him another year and see what happens saunders fights like a bum IMHO i think he was fighting a latvian journeyman not so long ago and by looking at them u couldnt really seperate who the better man was how he managed to qualify as an olympian baffles me his skill set resembles that of a journeyman
you reckon he could beat wlad, vitali or haye the man who failed to pick up a commonwealth title against an under trained danny williams and the guy who went on to getting schooled by dominic guinn is going to beat either of those 3 if thats what yout suggesting that has to be the most absurd thing iv read audley couldnt even beat an irish cabby in rogan and hes going to come back and pick up a world title:lol: if only they were handing out world titles like they were handing out gold medals in the Sydney olympics 9 years ago:yep

Smith, Dodson and Quigley on the domestic scene. I'm worried talent alone might be able to beat them. Magee might give him something real interesting to think about though.

    THAKS FOR YOUR INPUT FRAUDLY!!!!!...

But Degale looks near certain to fail....His less active/ Lazy Joe Calzaghe style may get him a WBU belt....but no more than that!

No he will not be another Audley, he is with Warren from the beginning, he is being groomed for success.

Chunky will do okay, I think he needs to switch trainer though...

FW will keep him heading down a well worn path that has brought plenty of success and greenbacks to those who have tread it's path before...:good

He was awful in his last fight. In an early fight picked for him to boost his record, he was slapping and switching stances. Looked a mess.

Someone further up mentioned his learning curve, and from what i have seen so far he is going the wrong way about it. I have met him and seems like a nice lad when with boxing fans etc.. but needs to drop the attitude when in front of a camera.

I hope he does well, maybe a change in trainer might help.

He will be kept safe so who knows how far he will go. Probable WBO champ with 20 defences.
