Finished? He never started. His career has been a damp squib following his loss to Groves. Groves hasn't fared that much better, but he has the kudos of taking Froch life and death at least once.
I’d say he’s very lucky in the sense that because of the WBSS there’s going to be a few decent fighters knocking about also coming off defeats. So fortunately for him he can probably still secure himself that big pay day. Degale Groves 2 with no world title on the line would probably still sell. I wouldn’t fancy him in there with Smith or Eubank. It would be brutal.
DeGale is done at the top level yes. Does he get another big pay though? Possibly. But if he is almost getting knock the f out by the like the Truax (see that 5th round its brutal) and then losing a clear decision then his level has dropped way below. He wouldnt be getting out the first round of the WBSS with a performance like that. He is around top 10 now at SMW based on that performance, his clear decline due to age and ring wear.
#wow - rapid detioration that. He went from fairly world class to plodder level almost overnight. Is there any way back for DeGale? Im not sure he can recover top form after last night.
Doesn't live the life, only interested in money, fame, the "celebrity" lifestyle and generally being an all round d*ckhead. It showed last night.
Needs to get out to the states, IMHO. O'Donnel has done all he can do with him. "Chunky" has a style that would be awesome if a proper yank trainer could tighten it up.
I don't think he's finished he can come again if he's fully fit. But I don't think he has the inner strength or mentality to match his talent and ability. He's always switched off during fights, usually after he's gotten comfortable and up on the scorecards, then he just loses focus and allows fighters to get back into the fight, when others would have dominated from then on.
His arrogance has caught up with him. The Jack fight took everything out of him and he’s done. What the hell was the tactic behind going to the ropes and not throwing anything? Either the surgery hasn’t worked or he’s just finished.
Degales attitudes always been the problem. Awaiting on the result yesterday in the ring he was still strutting about like hes the messiah. Did not look like a guy that was about to be outpointed by a totally unfancied opponent and lose his world title. Needed a reality check. But he,s one of them guys that just won't learn. He,ll just believe he won the fight as he always does. And continue swaggering on.
This has been coming for him, it's not an overnight thing. He looked like crap against Porky Medina, lost to Jack and now lost to Truax. He needs to change something in his camp, have a few British/European paydays and call it a day.
