The man was so damn vicious, and his bobbing and weaving/slipping was beautiful to watch. Just an assumption but I think Cus tried to model Tyson after Dempsey. This content is protected Dempsey is the only boxer from before the 50's that I **** with.

Some of those fighters in the 1920's were ruthless SOB's. Harry Greb fought in that era- he was arguably the best fighter of the decade (which is saying a lot considering guys like Dempsey, Tunney and Leonard campaigned at the same time.) He was also probably the most ruthless fighter of his time. He won a close, competitive decision against another top tier fighter of the time named Mickey Walker. Both men were getting stitched up afterward and someone overheard MIckey complaining about the decision. Walker ended up going to a bar later that night to unwind. Word got back to Greb that Mickey was complaining about the decision and thought he did enough to win. Harry ended up going to the same bar to confront Walker, and they ended up getting into a fistfight. This is a couple hours after their MW championship fight ended. It's a story that always sticks out to me when thinking about those fighters in that period of time. Dempsey was definitely a ruthless individual, but he became somewhat of a diva the moment he captured the title (he was barely fighting, even taking up to two year hiatus' from the sport and essentially keeping the HW title hostage.). Before that though when he was still a contender and coming up, he was as nasty as they come.
