Is Deontay Wilder’s first win over Luis Ortiz overrated?

I think it was a decent win, nothing much more. Ortiz just hasn't done much more then living off losses.

 

If anything it's massively UNDERRATED.

By saying that, I've somewhat OVERRATED it.

 

It was a very good win as Ortiz was a top 5 HW at the time. What's funny is that this forum said Wilder would *never* fight a slick Cuban southpaw like Ortiz, because Wilder was protected and would only fight basic Eastern Europeans.

It wasn't until after Wilder won that Ortiz became a bum/grandpa.

 

At least Wilder got in the ring with Ortiz, unlike that bum AJ who got him signed to matchroom so he could continue to DUCK him.

 

Well… It depends who you ask… At the time of the fight I believe Ortiz would have beaten Whyte, Chisora and Parker. I rate it a really good win.

 

Why is this KINGWILDER guy with the Dustin Nichols photo so 'worried' about people finally recognizing Wilder as a top heavyweight?

He seems to be going on a bender starting Wilder threads since Wilder-Parker got inked.

Some truth here. I am a big fan of King Kong, but like so many other HWs (And boxer pretty much), inactivity and not facing other top contenders have brought him down a little.

It's just frustrating.

 

AJ is a certified bum. British level fighter with elite level marketing. Boxing historians will not remember him well. Marketing students of the future may well refer to him as the GOAT.

Joey Twelve paper champ parker is for me his best win. And look what a real heavy did to that guy. We'll see next month what an elite heavy does to a guy like joey twelve.

Wallin would be AJs best win if he can pull it off.

Luis Ortiz is overrated so I think this win (good one btw) is also a little overrated. But only little.

End of the day Ortiz done nothing special in the division.

We must remeber too that Wilder first check Luis with his friend Malick Scott before face him.
That's one thing. Second is how Luis was threat before fight and inside ring too.
Wilder after being hard wobbled got if I correct remeber that (check it in past) 19 seconds extra pause. Paulie Malignaggi who comment this live was schocked.
And other thing is permanent throw shot in back of the Luis Ortiz head. There is even video on YouTube with all this shots from Wilder. If I found it I post it.

Imo this was good win, first from long time over top 10 hw. He is best name in Wilder resume but I also think that Wilder team knew smth about Ortiz punch resistans/health problem. That's why he decide fight with him even when he got pretty good skills and punching power on high level.
