Man, this is not fair to Haney. It’s like comparing a rookie NBA player to Jordan. I hate it when they do this and don’t think this does Haney any good.

The good news for Haney is that he doesn’t need to be the next Floyd to be successful. He has great size and athleticism for 135. It takes more than that but he seems like a good kid who is willing to work hard. I like him more than many of the young guys coming up at similar weight, Teo, Tank, etc.

Haney seems like a smart kid and I expect him to improve with each fight. Not sure at this stage if he can get to elite level, but look forward to watch his progression. He’s only 20 years old! The same is true of Stevenson and Garcia, great raw talent with a bright future. No guarantees because we’ve seen too many young guys fizzle our or succumb to injuries, mismanagement or bad outside the ring habits. This is a tough sport with lots of distractions, politics and major hurdles. Haney seems to be a guy with a great chance of progressing and becoming a top fighter.
