You're right its hard to tell the balance in that interview between delusion and sell mode.. Probably a bit of both.. That said, Usyk is AJs probably only shot at the title before getting frozen out
He has to have faith in his top fighter also elite fighters have ego's so he can't exactly say nah AJ has no chance in a rematch we will fight someone else. He wants the belts back on his cash cow and he knows that there is no time to wait. AJ is not hopeless he does have a chance in a rematch and aside from Fury and Wilder he is the only other heavyweight with a chance at beating Usyk. I think Usyk will beat him again but if AJ takes the rematch immediately and goes balls to the wall you gotta respect him. Hearn knows more about the boxing business than any of us you need to take risks to be successful.
I mean Anthony Joshua is Eddie Hearn’s biggest success as a promoter and let’s be honest if it was up to Eddie they would have dropped that WBO belt. AJ was intrigued at being Undisputed but Eddie knew the skills Usyk possessed would be a problem. Credit to AJ for taking the fight when he really didn’t have to because I’m sure Eddie was selling him the idea of vacating and fighting a beatable name while waiting on Fury/Wilder 3 winner..
Hearn created Joshua as a PRODUCT to sell to the masses. He saw the chance to sell Froch-Groves II to the public 2/3 times per year regardless of the opponent and he went for it. Now the product is malfunctioning because it was never quality control and stress tested and it's too far down the production line to be recalled to check for defects. It will still fetch a premium price but soon again it will manlfunction and will be on the scrap heap...... ....unless there is a recall and some significant adjustments made.
