If so, I think that is a great idea, I think Miranda has potential, he was ok at Super Middleweight, but he wouldn't ever beat Andre Ward, Lucian Bute or even Froch. Light Heavyweight has 3 great contenders, Tavoris Cloud and Bernard Hopkins, and Chad Dawson. Plus, Hopkins only has a couple years left in the ring so I see Miranda being a little better of a contender then at Super Middleweight. What is your opinions?

Miranda is done, he should've got a decent trainer to teach him to box long ago, before Bute KO'd him, he actually looked ok under Goosen , but after years of bad habbits + ass whoopins, it's over, he may win this friday but he will never be more than a fringe contender IMO.

    Yes, 175lbs:

Miranda also has much to prove at his new weight. “I feel great at 175lbs. I can finally work hard on boxing during my training camp and not have to worry about losing weight. I have always felt strong in the gym until I had to struggle to lose the final 10-15lbs. Now, I don’t have to worry about losing muscle to make weight.” says Miranda. He knows he needs to make a big splash in his first televised USA bout at light heavyweight. “I am ready to prove to the world that Edison Miranda is back. Everyone saw what happened to David Banks when I came back at 168lbs. I am even stronger at 175lbs. I have asked the Nevada Boxing Commission to lay pads around the outside of the ring. If Despaigne’s big head doesn’t stop him from going through the ropes then the pads will be his only hope”

Miranda’s trainer, Noel ‘Chico’ Carbajal agrees with Edison’s thoughts. “I have known Edison for many years and worked with him for other fights. This is my first big fight with him as head trainer. I can honestly say I have never seen him in this kind of shape. He keeps telling me he wants to destroy this guy and is as focused as ever. I have studied Despaigne’s style. He is a very good fighter, but he makes mistakes. We have been working on taking advantage of these mistakes. With as much power as Edison has shown at this weight, I predict a knockout win for Edison.”

Now that I read your full post, I kind of agree in the sense that 175 is nowhere near as deep as 168. His best chance at a belt was against Steiglitz...but that fight fell through (I think Miranda got sick?). At the moment, his best chance at a belt is against Shumenov...however, he could get messed up in that fight as well. Light Heavy has more than Cloud, Hopkins, and Dawson...Pascal is still there, Erdei is still hanging around, Campillo is still around, and of course Diaconu is there, and Syllakh is coming up, as well as the aforementioned Shumenov. It's not as deep with the quality as 168, but it's going to be DAMN tough for Edison up there also.
