    Yes, definitely in my eyes.

Good longevity at the top or thereabouts of the division, for many years. Titles won and credible opponents beaten. Some exciting fights and courageous performances. Sharp counter puncher, combinations to head and body, durable and crafty.

I'd have already had him in the IBHOF like a shot, if the silly old bugger would only stop fighting.

"Holyfield had no weak areas showing he was a good all around fighter in his heavyweight prime. He could punch well, box, move, counter, had loads of heart and durability and was a fine ring general. Not among the greatest punchers but he could finish a man when he was hurt. Holyfield mixed great performances with lackluster ones."

OK, let's begin with listing the guys who have to rank above Evander at heavy, no question:

    Ali, Louis, Lewis, Holmes.

I think it's fair to add Jack Johnson and Jack Dempsey to that without any debate.

Now we're looking at Tyson, Frazier, Foreman, Marciano and James J Jefferies.

If we rank Holyfield below all of the underlined fighters, he is not in the top 10.

Who ranks Holyfield higher than any of them?

why on earth would you list wins over Ruiz and Rahman? :huh Those two names clearly do not belong with the others.

    1. Joe Louis
    2. Muhammad Ali
    3. Larry Holmes
    4. Lennox Lewis
    5. Rocky Marciano
    6. George Foreman
    7. Sonny Liston
    8. Jack Dempsey
    9. Gene Tunney
    10. Jack Johnson
    11. Evander Holyfield / Riddick Bowe

    - I cant decide who should get the overall edge between Holyfield and Bowe. Either way he just misses the top 10, but who knows with a win over Valuev and a 10 match win streak into his 50's maybe he will pass Johnson and Tunney lol.

Honorable mention - Ezzard Charles, J. Joe Walcott, Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Jim Jeffries, Floyd Patterson.

Fair enough, I was just writing them as I thought of them. What's your opinion on the question at hand?

Why do you rank Liston so highly? And why do you think Foreman was a better heavyweight than Johnson or Dempsey??

If he wins against valuev, holy **** yes.

So far, he's just so so so close.

But if he beats Valuev, damn...

I may be a bit biased but I have Holyfield as a Top Ten All Time Heavyweight.

There's more chance of Valuev coming to the ring in a mini-skirt and no pants though.

Have we actually found a fighter you like then?!?! :yikes

Who do you have him above from this list:

Tyson, Frazier, Foreman, Marciano and James J Jefferies.

  14. ALI
    HOLMES
    MARCIANO
    DEMPSEY
    LOUIS
    FOREMAN
    JACK JOHNSON
    LENNOX
    FRAZIER
    SONNY LISTON
    GENE TUNNEY
    FLOYD PATTERSON

    13-HOLYFIELD..
Holy dosen't even come close to the top 10 in my opinion i have him at 13, you can make an argument putting him in Floyds spot but he dosen't make the top 10:-( he was however the best cruiser of all time:deal

    I have him:

    above Tyson

    below Frazier

    below Foreman

    below Marciano

    above James J Jeffries

I went to High School with two of Evander's nephews and one was in my graduating class so I got to see Evander quite often out and about.
