he is avoided at light welter. he couldn't go straight to title class at welter and cotto, margarito and mayweather are different animals altogether than torres, mallignaggi and hatton. witter lives in the gym and has had no beatings. as make 3 million in a super fight he could defend his belt against 4 or 5 different foes, look good doing it and build a good rep with the doubters; then a big fight will be made. witter is much better than v judah and is top dog at 140lbs. there's no one around to hassle him too much so he should relax and enjoy being champ for a while. everyone knows hatton doesn't fancy it; he'll need a lassoo to get him in the ring. i don't imagine the welter champs would lose any sleep about junior.
OK, who?:? Is that a 'hes British so must be crap statement?' If not i apologise, but who would 'Smash him' at Light Welter?:huh Do tell:good
Well, I'm British, so no not a 'he's British so must be crap' statement. And I already said that he's not the kind of fighter to get smashed, simply because he'd rather coast to a points defeat than go for broke and risk getting ko'd. But I'm not oversold on his resume. IMO Hatton beats him comfortably. People comment that Witter is a difficult style for Hatton, whilst ignoring that Hatton's style would be a nightmare for Witter. Torres and Malignaggi would both have reasonable chances to beat him. Kotelnik already did, IMO, and was unlucky to lose the verdict.
Witter's too small for Welter. It would be pointless for him to move up there. He's still not enough of a name to garner interest from other name fighters. If he can unify belts, that might be another story. If he can't get a Hatton fight, his best play is to try to unify and force Hatton's hand. If Hatton still won't play ball, then you might be able to get interest from a decent welterweight for a bigger money fight, or even from a lightweight looking to move up to secure his legacy (i.e. Casamayor, although a Casa-Witter fight would be destined to be a stinker).
