I thought he was pretty damn awesome myself, even if you definitely thought he was gifted the decision against Oscar. He still beat a lot of good dudes and was in some exciting fights.

    Yes.

    1. He was a huge Welterweight. Almost 6ft. tall.

    2. Elite power at '47.

    3. Elite stamina and endurance allowed him to carry that power 12 rounds.

    4. Could box better than given credit for. He had a nice jab and fast hands.

    5. 14 successful defenses. An uneven title reign but still impressive. Blocker, a still potent Camacho who just moved to '47, Undefeated Oba Carr, Undefeated hyped Yori Boy Campos. Was the first fighter to ever beat SweetPea though a faded version. Legitimately beat him. Beat Oscar DelaHoya in a unification fight. (Sorry fans Oscar lost).

    PS
Also beat Jake The Snake Rodriguez who was a legend. The perfect fighting machine.

That whole era is underrated imo. Tito, Oscar, Ike, Carr, Pernell etc. It was as stacked as any era in history.

Trinidad was seen as the best WWs at the time and was near unbeatable at the weight, although ODLH did arguably beat him. He was also the first fighter to convincingly beat Whitaker with no controversy.

He’s became very underrated, yes. A truly great fighter. Was very dominant and consistent and exciting as hell.

He was great. He's an all-time top 20 welterweight and welterweight is a stacked division historically so that's impressive.

His reign started brilliantly before treading some water in the middle and then ended on a high, albeit a controversial one.

His opposition was variable - strong at the start and end but had a run of weak defenses and was definitely struggling with making weight for a long time - he won the title at only 20 years old and left the division at 27 when he had filled out so I think that affected some of his performances. As soon as he moved up to 154 he seemed rejuvenated.

I always thought it was a shame we never got a fight with Ike Quartey. I think he would have won but it would have been a great fight. A fight with Terry Norris was discussed in the mid-90s up at 154 so had that come off, it would have shortened his reign but probably benefited him physically moving up earlier. And by that time he would have murdered Norris.

Coming from you it doesn't carry much weight. Running and boxing are two different things. Their two different fights. You sir are a JackA$$.

Felix Trinidad was a greater Welterweight than Floyd Mayweather. Get over it

YES!!! Trinidad-Quartey and Trinidad-Norris were 2 of my favorite fights that never materialized. To this day, and I know this for a fact, both those fights would've been fight of the year candidates.

Trinidad is criminally underrated. One reason is because you rarely hear his name mentioned anymore.

And wouldn't these match ups be scintillating? - Trinidad vs. McCallum at 154/160, Benn at 160, Jackson at 154/160, McClellan at 160, Mosley at 154...
