Just finished watching fernando montiel vs victor terrazas. maybe one of the upsets of the year, it was really a sad sight looking at fernando montiel, after the fight, both his eyes were swelling literally like golf balls. seems like 3 fights in a year after that devastating ko from donaire plus his age finally caught up with him. IS THIS THE END OF MONTIEL'S CAREER? if so farewell champ...:bbb

He'll soldier on, but he's done at the championship level, I think. Everything has added up now and taken a big toll. He's clearly not the same fighter he was years back and several pounds ago.

I thought that he was on the slide going into his loss to Donaire . Great fighter, but the tough fights
have taken a toll on him

Not even close to being one of the big upsets, Terrazes is a much natural bigger guy then Montiel he has fought guy's up to 144 lb and won and he is a real good fighter.

I'd like to see him hang them up personally. Whilst Super Bantam isn't that deep with talent lets not pretend Terrazas is one of the elite, I'd rather he walked away with his health.

I never thought Montiel was all that spectacular to begin with, TBH. I know he racked up a lot of title defenses, but he seemed to fall short every time the spotlight was on him (ie: vs. Donaire, Johnson, Gonzalez).

Name me four fighters with a better calendar 2010 than Montiel. He fought Nonito in February of 2011.

This is the "Boxrec fact of the year." Good job, man... Two can play that game. The 144+ pounder was 11-16. This was a big upset tonight.

    OK. Good rationalization.

Montiel prime was a very good fighter. To say he was never that good to begin with, is a joke.

you never know what you get with Montiel. its not that hes ever been constant. done? no.. he looked good yesterday compared to the Valdez fight some years ago for example, still went on to beat Hasegawa etc

:huh Wasn't the spotlight on him for Hasegawa? I considered Hasegawa a fantastic bantamweight when he crushed him in that unification bout.
